This topic describes the billing for the Enterprise Edition instances and public instances of IoT Platform.

Instance Region Billing method Description
Enterprise Edition instance China (Shanghai) and Japan (Tokyo) Subscription The subscription billing method. After you purchase an Enterprise Edition instance, you can use the services provided for the instance.
Public instances of the new version China (Shanghai) Free of charge. By default, a public instance of the new version provides the following specifications:
  • Allows up to 50 online devices and allows you to create up to 500 devices in the instance.
  • Allows each device to send and receive up to five messages per second.
  • Allows the rules engine to send up to five messages per second.

If the preceding default specifications cannot meet your business requirements, you can upgrade the public instance of the new version to an Enterprise Edition instance that uses the subscription billing method.

Public instance of the old version China (Shanghai) and Japan (Tokyo) Pay-as-you-go The pay-as-you-go billing method. This billing method allows you to pay for the resources that you use. IoT Platform generates a bill based on the paid resources that are used in each billing cycle and deducts the corresponding fees from your Alibaba Cloud account. No limit is set on the minimum fees.
Note You cannot create public instances of the new version in the Japan (Tokyo) region. All public instances in this region are of the old version.

Enterprise Edition instances are not available in the Singapore (Singapore), Germany (Frankfurt), US (Silicon Valley), and US (Virginia) regions. For more information about billing, see Messaging fees.
