Hologres:Scale an instance

Last Updated:Dec 11, 2025

This topic guides you through upgrading or downgrading the specifications of an instance's computing and storage resources.

Prerequisites

  • Your Alibaba Cloud account has no unpaid orders or overdue payments. To view relevant information, you can go to the Account Overview page.

  • Your Hologres instance is running as expected. For more information about the status of a Hologres instance, see Instances.

Usage notes

  • Storage resources

    • Pay-as-you-go instances: Storage capacity automatically scales and is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

    • Subscription instances: Storage resources are billed according to subscription rates. Scaling the storage capacity does not affect data reads/writes on the instance.

  • Computing resources

    • General-purpose instances: Increasing or reducing computing resources will lead to service downtime lasting 2 to 5 minutes.

    • Virtual warehouse instances:

      • Adjusting reserved computing resources does not affect the running of each virtual warehouse.

      • Increasing or reducing the number of gateway nodes leads to transient disconnection in all virtual warehouses. Reconnection is needed.

      • For information about, see Manage virtual warehouses.

    • The behavior is consistent between subscription and pay-as-you-go instances.

Billing rules

For information about the billing rules of Hologres instances, see Billing overview.
