Instance resizing

Prerequisites

Ensure your Alibaba Cloud account has no overdue payments. You can check your account status on the Account Overview page.
The instance must be in the Running state. You can check the instance status under Instances.

Resizing storage resources
- Pay-as-you-go instances do not require storage resizing because storage is billed based on actual usage.
- For subscription instances, resizing storage resources adjusts your storage quota without affecting instance availability. You can read and write data normally during the resize.
Resizing computing resources
- For general-purpose instances, the service is unavailable during a computing resource resize. Perform this operation during off-peak hours and ensure your application has an automatic reconnection mechanism. The process typically takes 2 to 5 minutes to reallocate computing resources and update metadata.
- For instances with virtual warehouses:
  - Resizing reserved computing resources does not affect virtual warehouses.
  - Resizing the number of Gateway nodes causes a brief connection interruption across all virtual warehouses. Connections can be re-established afterward.
  - For details about the impact of resizing an individual virtual warehouse, see Manage virtual warehouses.
- These behaviors apply to both subscription and pay-as-you-go instances.

Log on to the Hologres console. In the navigation pane on the left, click Instances.
On the Instances page, click the name of the instance to resize.
On the Instance Details page, click Upgrade.
In the upgrade confirmation dialog box, click Upgrade.

For general-purpose instances, the instance is unavailable during the upgrade. Perform this operation during off-peak hours and ensure your application has an automatic reconnection mechanism. This process typically takes 2 to 5 minutes to reallocate computing resources and update metadata.
On the Resize page, select the specifications for the Computing Resources and set the quota for the Storage Resources.

You can set the storage resource quota only for subscription instances.
Read and select the Service Agreement, and then click Buy Now.

Log on to the Hologres console. In the navigation pane on the left, click Instances.
On the Instances page, click the name of the instance to resize.
On the Instance Details page, click Downgrade.
In the downgrade confirmation dialog box, click Downgrade.

For general-purpose instances, the instance is unavailable during the downgrade. Perform this operation during off-peak hours and ensure your application has an automatic reconnection mechanism. This process typically takes 2 to 5 minutes to reallocate computing resources and update metadata.
On the Downgrade page, select the specifications for the Computing Resources and set the quota for the Storage Resources.
