This topic describes the pay-as-you-go billing method for Hologres.
Lifecycle management
For the pay-as-you-go billing method, compute fees are charged based on the instance specifications and runtime. Storage fees are charged based on the actual data volume and storage duration. Bills are settled hourly. The lifecycle of a pay-as-you-go Hologres instance is as follows:
Scenarios:
You purchase a pay-as-you-go analytic instance. After the instance is created, you can run it. Bills are settled hourly. The system pushes a bill and automatically deducts the fee from your account. If your account has an overdue payment, you can still use the instance, but no bills are pushed. When the overdue payment reaches USD 1,000, the system attempts to deduct the fee again. If the deduction fails and you do not settle the bill within 14 days, the instance is suspended and becomes unavailable. Ensure that your account has a sufficient balance to prevent service suspension due to payment failure. If you do not settle the bill within 14 days after the suspension, the instance is released. It is then deleted from the console. Your business data is permanently deleted within 15 days and cannot be recovered.
The pay-as-you-go billing method also supports manual suspension. If you manually pause an instance, the system releases the compute resources reserved for the instance and stops billing for compute resources. However, storage fees are still incurred. This means that after you manually pause the instance, you are still charged hourly for the data stored in Hologres, even if you are not using the instance for computing. You can also manually resume the instance. The system then automatically resumes billing for compute and storage. You can also delete the instance as needed. The system settles the final bill based on your actual usage before the deletion. After you delete an instance, the system automatically releases it. The data in the instance is also released and cannot be recovered.
When you manually resume an instance, the system must request compute resources again. If the compute resources in the current zone are insufficient, an "inventory shortage" error is returned. You can submit a ticket to resolve this issue.
Hologres lets you change the billing method between pay-as-you-go and subscription.
Billing
The following tables describe the billable items and pricing for the pay-as-you-go billing method.
Billing method | Billable item | Resource specifications | Price | Description |
Pay-as-you-go | Compute |
| The price varies based on the country and region. Details are as follows:
| Billed hourly. 1 CU = 1 core and 4 GB memory. |
| Compute group-based | The price varies based on the country and region. Details are as follows:
| Billed hourly. 1 CU = 1 core and 4 GB memory. | |
Gateway resources | Compute group-based | The price varies based on the country and region. Details are as follows:
| Billed hourly. 1 CU = 1 core and 4 GB memory. | |
Serverless compute resources |
| The price varies based on the country and region. Details are as follows:
| Pay-as-you-go. You are charged based on the amount and duration of serverless compute resources used. | |
Storage | Standard storage (locally redundant storage) | The price varies based on the country and region. Details are as follows:
| Billed hourly. | |
Standard storage (zone-redundant storage) |
| |||
Infrequent Access storage (locally redundant storage) | The price varies based on the country and region. Details are as follows:
| |||
Backup snapshots | To stop billing, disable periodic backup and delete backup snapshots.
Infrequent Access storage (zone-redundant storage) |
| Billed hourly. | ||
Network | Data transfer fee for cross-region snapshot replication | The price varies based on the country and region. Details are as follows:
| You can disable cross-region snapshot replication. |
You purchase a pay-as-you-go Hologres instance with 64 CUs of compute resources (256 GB of memory) in the Singapore region. If you store 100 GB of data in this instance for one hour, the total fee for that hour is USD 4.300556. This is calculated as: 0.066604 × 64 × 1 + 0.000379 × 100 × 1 = 4.300556.
Notification mechanism
The following tables describe the notification mechanism for pay-as-you-go Hologres instances.
Billing method | Service suspension reminders after a deduction fails for an overdue payment of USD 1,000 | Service suspension | Instance release reminders after suspension |
Pay-as-you-go | 7 days before suspension | Service is suspended on the 15th day after the deduction fails | 7 days before release |
3 days before suspension | 3 days before release
1 day before suspension | 1 day before release |
Example: You purchase a pay-as-you-go Hologres instance. The system settles the fees for the actual compute and storage usage every hour and automatically deducts the fees from your account after a bill is pushed. If your overdue payment reaches USD 1,000 and the deduction fails, the system sends service suspension reminders by text message and email 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before the suspension. If you do not settle the bill during this period, the service is suspended on the 15th day, and the instance becomes unavailable. If you do not settle the bill within 14 days after the suspension, the system automatically releases the instance. The system sends release reminders by text message and email 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before the release.
