Expiration and overdue payment alerts and service suspension policy

This topic describes the policies for Hologres instances regarding expiration and overdue payments, including alert notifications and service suspension.

A Hologres instance is suspended if it expires or if your account has overdue payments. To restore the service, you must settle the outstanding balance or renew the instance.

Instance expiration

The instance is suspended immediately upon expiration and becomes inaccessible.

Renew your Subscription to restore the instance immediately.

To prevent service interruption, Alibaba Cloud sends renewal reminders by SMS or email at the following times:

  • 7 days before suspension

  • 3 days before suspension

  • 1 day before suspension

For 14 days after expiration (Day 1 to Day 14), the instance is locked and inaccessible. No bills are generated during this period.

Renew your Subscription to restore the instance immediately.

To prevent permanent data loss, Alibaba Cloud sends reminders to renew your instance before it is released. Data cannot be recovered after an instance is released. Reminders are sent at the following times:

  • 7 days before release

  • 3 days before release

  • 1 day before release

On Day 15 after expiration, the instance is released. The instance is removed from the console, and its data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

The instance cannot be restored.

Overdue payments

The instance continues to run normally if the account has overdue payments.

Settle your bills as soon as possible to avoid service suspension.

To prevent your instance from being locked, Alibaba Cloud sends reminders by SMS or email to settle the overdue payments at the following times:

  • 18 hours before service suspension

  • 12 hours before service suspension

  • 6 hours before service suspension

24 hours after the payment becomes overdue, the service is suspended, and the instance becomes inaccessible.

The instance remains locked and inaccessible from 24 hours after the payment becomes overdue until the instance expires.

Overdue payments

The instance continues to run as long as the accumulated overdue balance is less than USD 1,000.

Settle your bills as soon as possible to avoid service suspension.

If you enable the available credit alert, the system sends a notification by SMS or email when your account balance falls below the threshold you set.

When the accumulated overdue balance reaches USD 1,000, Alibaba Cloud attempts to deduct the overdue amount. If the deduction fails, the instance continues to run for an additional 14 days.

To prevent your instance from being locked, Alibaba Cloud sends reminders by SMS or email to settle the overdue payments at the following times:

  • 7 days before service suspension

  • 3 days before service suspension

  • 1 day before service suspension

On Day 15 after the payment deduction fails, the service is suspended. The instance is locked and becomes inaccessible. No bills are generated during this period.

Settle the overdue payments to restore the service immediately.

To prevent your instance from being released and your data from being permanently lost, Alibaba Cloud sends reminders to settle your bills at the following times:

  • 7 days before release

  • 3 days before release

  • 1 day before release

On Day 15 after the service is suspended due to overdue payments, the instance is released. The instance is removed from the console, and its data is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

The data cannot be recovered.

To prevent your instance from being released and your data from being permanently lost, Alibaba Cloud sends reminders to settle your bills at the following times:

  • 7 days before release

  • 3 days before release

  • 1 day before release

Configure alert recipients

Alibaba Cloud sends alerts via SMS and email when your account has an overdue payment or a Hologres instance is about to expire. By default, these notifications are sent to the mobile number and email address associated with your Alibaba Cloud account. To have a RAM user receive these alerts, add them as a contact in the Message Center.

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Management Console, and in the top navigation bar, click Messages > Message Settings.

  2. On the Message Center page, in the left-side navigation pane, choose Message Settings > Common Settings.

  3. Find the Product Overdue Payment, Suspension, and Imminent Release Notifications message type and click Modify in the Contact column.

  4. In the Modify Contact dialog box, add a contact. Select the checkbox for the new contact to add them as a recipient, and then click Save.
