Monitor and create alerts for ECR

Updated at:

Cloud Monitor collects real-time monitoring data for traffic between an Express Connect Router (ECR) and its connected VBRs, TRs, or VPCs. It also collects monitoring data for cross-region traffic that passes through the ECR instance. CloudMonitor displays this data in visual time-series charts. You can use ECR monitoring to track changes in traffic volume and packet rates. You can also create threshold-triggered alert rules to receive timely notifications about anomalies, allowing you to address issues promptly.

ECR monitoring information

Note

You can view traffic monitoring data for connections between an ECR and its connected VBRs, TRs, or VPCs in both the Express Connect console and the CloudMonitor console. However, monitoring data for an ECR instance's cross-region traffic is available only in the CloudMonitor console.

Express Connect console

  1. Log on to the Express Connect console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Express Connect Router (ECR).

  3. On the ECR page, click the ID of the desired Express Connect Router instance.

  4. On the details page of the Express Connect Router instance, click the VBR, TR, or VPC tab.

  5. In the Monitor column, click the image icon to view the monitoring data.

Note
  • For information about the metrics for Express Connect Router, see Metrics.

  • By default, the charts display monitoring data from the last hour. You can also view data from the last 3 hours, 6 hours, or 12 hours, or specify a custom time range. You can query data for a maximum of 31 days.

  • Enable Auto Refresh to update the monitoring chart every minute.

CloudMonitor console

  1. Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Cloud Service Monitoring > Cloud Service Monitoring.

  3. On the Cloud Service Monitoring page, in the Network section, click Express Connect Router.

  4. On the Express Connect Router page, find the desired ECR instance and click Monitoring Charts in the Actions column to view the monitoring data.

Note
  • For information about the metrics for Express Connect Router, see Metrics.

  • By default, the charts display monitoring data from the last hour. You can choose to view data from the last 3 hours, 6 hours, or 12 hours. You can also click Custom to specify a custom time range.

Create a threshold alert rule

  1. Log on to the Express Connect console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the desired region. Then, in the left-side navigation pane, click Express Connect Router.

  3. On the ECR page, click the ID of the desired Express Connect Router instance.

  4. On the instance details page, click the image icon in the Monitor column of the desired instance.

  5. On the monitoring page of the desired instance, click Set Alert Threshold.

  6. On the Alert Rules page, click Create Alert Rule.

  7. In the Create Alert Rule panel, configure the parameters for the alert rule and click Confirm.

This section describes only the parameters relevant to this operation. For more information about other parameters, see Create an alert rule.

    Parameter

    Description

    Product

    Select Express Connect Router.

    Resource Range

Specifies the scope of the alert rule.

    • All Resources: The alert rule applies to all resources of the selected cloud service under your Alibaba Cloud account.

    • Application Groups: The alert rule applies to all resources in the specified application group of the selected product. It also applies to new resources added later.

    • Instance: The alert rule applies only to the specified resources under your Alibaba Cloud account.

    Rule Description

The conditions that trigger an alert. An alert is triggered when a metric meets the specified condition. To configure the rule description, perform the following steps:

    1. Click Add Rule and select the appropriate metric type from the drop-down menu.

    2. In the Configure Rule Description panel, first enter a Alert Rule. Then define the rule conditions.

      • Simple Metric: First select a monitoring metric. Then set its threshold and alert level.

      • Combined Metrics: First select an alert level. Then define a multi-metric alert condition using two or more monitoring metrics.

        Note

If you define a multi-metric alert rule, the target resource must report data for every metric. Otherwise, the alert will not trigger. For example, if your multi-metric alert includes a public network metric but the ECS instance has no public IP address, the alert will not trigger.

      • Expression: First select an alert level. Then define an alert expression.

      • Dynamic Threshold: For more information about smart thresholds, see Overview and Create a smart threshold alert rule.

    3. Click OK.
