This topic describes how to create a peering connection between two virtual private clouds (VPCs).

Background information

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Express Connect console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose VPC Peering Connections > VPC-to-VPC.
  3. In the top navigation bar, select the region where you want to create the peering connection.
  4. On the VPC-to-VPC page, click Create Peering Connection.
  5. Set the following parameters of the peering connection and click Buy Now.
    Parameter Description
    Billing Method
    Select a billing method.
    • Subscription
    • Pay-As-You-Go
    Account Type
Specify whether to create a connection for VPCs that belong to the same account or different accounts.
    • Same-account: If you select this option, the system automatically creates an initiator router interface and an acceptor router interface to establish the connection.
    • Cross-account: If you select this option, the system automatically creates an initiator router interface. You must manually add an acceptor router interface and enable the initiator to send connection requests to the acceptor.
    Connection Type
Select the type of peering connection that you want to create.
    • VPC-to-VPC: A connection between two VPCs.
    • VBR-to-VPC: A connection between a VPC and a VBR. For more information, see Connect a VBR and a VPC.

In this example, VPC-to-VPC is selected.

Routers to Create Select the router interfaces to create.
    • Initiator and Acceptor: creates an initiator router interface and an acceptor router interface. After you complete the configuration, the initiator automatically connects to the acceptor.

Set the router type of the initiator and that of the acceptor to vRouter.

This option appears only if Account Type is set to Same-account.

    • Initiator Only: creates an initiator router interface only. The initiator can initiate the connection.

Set the router type of the initiator to vRouter.

This option appears only if Account Type is set to Cross-account.

    • Acceptor Only: creates an acceptor router interface only.

Set the router type of the acceptor to vRouter.

This option appears only if Account Type is set to Cross-account.
Note You can specify a subscription duration and enable auto-renewal only for subscription services.
    Router Type Default value: VRouter.
Region Select the region of the local VPC.
Local VPC ID Select the ID of the local VPC, which is the initiator or acceptor.
Peer Region Select the region of the peer VPC.
Peer Router Type Default value: VRouter.
Peer VPC ID Select the ID of the peer VPC, which is the initiator or acceptor.
Bandwidth Specify a bandwidth limit for the peering connection.

You do not need to specify a bandwidth limit for the acceptor router interface. The default bandwidth is used.

    Duration Specify the subscription duration.
    To enable auto-renewal, select Auto-renewal.
Note You can specify a subscription duration and enable auto-renewal only for subscription services.
  6. On the Confirm Order page, read and select Terms of Service and click Pay.
