Pay-as-you-go clusters and expired subscription clusters can be released directly. To release a non-expired subscription cluster, you must submit a refund request first.
Releasing a cluster permanently deletes all data stored on it and removes all configured pipelines. This action cannot be undone.
Tip: To retain your data before releasing, back up your pipelines and export any data you need.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure that:
The cluster is not being updated. If an update is in progress, stop it or wait for it to complete
For non-expired subscription clusters: a refund request has been submitted
Release a pay-as-you-go cluster
Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Elasticsearch console.
In the top navigation bar, select the region where the cluster resides.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Logstash Clusters.
On the Logstash Clusters page, find the cluster, and choose  > Release Cluster in the Actions column.
In the dialog box, select a deletion option and click OK.
Option Behavior Immediately Delete unselected (default) The cluster enters a 24-hour grace period. It remains visible on the Logstash Clusters page, where you can recover it or delete it immediately. Immediately Delete selected The cluster and all its data are deleted immediately and removed from the Logstash Clusters page.
What you can do during the grace period
If you left Immediately Delete unselected, the cluster stays in a pending-release state for 24 hours. During this window, you can:
Recover the cluster: Choose  > Recover in the Actions column. After recovery, the cluster resumes normal operation and billing restarts.
Delete the cluster immediately: Choose  > Delete in the Actions column. This permanently deletes the cluster and all its data, and removes it from the Logstash Clusters page.
