Elasticsearch:Release a cluster

Last Updated:May 21, 2026

This procedure describes how to release a pay-as-you-go cluster. You can also release expired subscription clusters. To release a subscription cluster before it expires, you must first request a refund.

Important

When a cluster is released, all its data and pipelines are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Proceed with caution.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Elasticsearch console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the desired cluster resides.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Logstash Clusters.

  4. In the cluster list, select Release Cluster in the Actions column of the cluster that you want to release.

    Important

You cannot release a Logstash cluster while it is being updated. To release the cluster, either stop the update process or wait for it to complete.

  5. In the dialog box, select or clear the Immediately Delete checkbox, and then click OK.

    • If you do not select the checkbox

The cluster is suspended for 24 hours before its data is permanently deleted. During this time, the cluster remains visible on the Logstash Clusters page, where you can either recover it or release it immediately:

      • Choose image > Recover. After you confirm, the cluster is restored, and billing resumes.

      • Choose image > Delete. After you confirm, the cluster is released, its data is permanently deleted, and the cluster is removed from the Logstash Clusters page.

    • If you select the checkbox

All data is permanently deleted, and the cluster is immediately removed from the Logstash Clusters page.Save
