ENS:Storage billing

Last Updated:Mar 17, 2026

This topic describes the billing methods for cloud disks, Edge Network Storage (EOS), and Network Attached Storage (NAS).

Cloud disk

After you create a cloud disk, you are billed based on its capacity.

Details

The supported billing methods vary based on how the cloud disk is created:

  • Create and attach a cloud disk when you create an ENS instance: The billing method and lifecycle of the cloud disk match those of the ENS instance. You can choose either the subscription or pay-as-you-go billing method.

  • Create a cloud disk separately: The cloud disk is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Subscription

You prepay for the cloud disk along with the subscription ENS instance. The fee is calculated using the following formula: Cloud Disk Capacity × Monthly Unit Price × Subscription Duration.

The annual price is calculated as follows: Monthly Price × 12 × 0.85.

Daily peak billing

Category

Description

Billing rule

Bill based on the daily peak cloud disk capacity. The system measures the cloud disk capacity every 5 minutes. Each day produces 288 values. The highest value becomes the daily billing data.

Billing method

Pay-as-you-go.

Billing cycle

Bill daily. The bill for the previous day generates and charges at 00:00 UTC+8. Exact billing time depends on the system.

Calculation method

  • The total fee equals the sum of fees for all cloud disk types configured that day.

  • The fee for one cloud disk type equals the daily peak cloud disk capacity × daily unit price of the cloud disk.

Monthly peak billing

Category

Description

Billing rule

Bill based on the monthly peak cloud disk capacity. The system measures the cloud disk capacity every 5 minutes. Each day produces 288 values. The highest value becomes the daily peak capacity. At month-end, the system takes the highest daily peak from the entire month as the monthly billing data.

Billing method

Pay-as-you-go.

Billing cycle

Bill by calendar month. The bill for the previous month generates and charges on the 1st day of the next calendar month. Exact billing time depends on the system.

Calculation method

  • The total fee equals the sum of fees for all cloud disk types configured that month.

  • The fee for one cloud disk type equals the monthly peak cloud disk capacity × monthly unit price of the cloud disk × effective factor.

Note
  • Effective factor: effective factor = number of effective days in the month ÷ total days in the month. For example, in June 2024, the month has 30 days and the billing period covers 26 days. The effective factor is 26 ÷ 30 = 0.86666667.

  • Effective days: the number of days between cloud disk creation and release in the month. If the disk is not released during the month, count from creation to month-end.

    • Scenario 1: Create a cloud disk on June 5, 2024. Release it on June 25, 2024. Effective days in June 2024 are 21.

    • Scenario 2: Create a cloud disk on June 5, 2024. Keep using it until month-end. Effective days in June 2024 are 26.

Snapshot

Billing formula

Billing method

Snapshot size fee

Fees are charged based on the total size of all snapshots that you create. Billing varies by cloud disk type.

Snapshot size fee = Snapshot unit price × Snapshot size × Billing duration.

  • Snapshot unit price: The same as the unit price of the corresponding cloud disk type (for example, ultra disk at USD 0.0493/GB/month and ESSD at USD 0.1408/GB/month).

  • Snapshot size: The actual storage space that a snapshot occupies, measured in GB.

  • Billing duration: Billing starts when a snapshot is created and ends after it is deleted. If a snapshot exists for 21 days, which is less than a full month, the billing duration is calculated as 21 days / 30 days = 0.7 months.

Pay-as-you-go (post-paid). Bills are generated monthly.

Cross-edge-zone snapshot replication traffic fee

When you copy a snapshot to another edge zone, a cross-edge-zone snapshot replication traffic fee and a snapshot size fee in the destination edge zone are incurred. The first time a snapshot of a cloud disk is replicated, the full snapshot is copied. Subsequent replications of new snapshots for the same cloud disk between the same edge zones are incremental.

Cross-edge-zone snapshot replication traffic fee = Unit price of cross-edge-zone snapshot replication traffic × Snapshot size × 2 (Traffic is generated in both the source and destination edge zones).

  • Cross-node snapshot replication traffic unit price: USD 0.05/GB.

Pay-as-you-go (post-paid). Bills are generated monthly.

Edge Network Storage (EOS)

EOS uses the pay-as-you-go billing method. You are billed for your actual usage. For more information about EOS, see Overview of Edge Network Storage (EOS).

Feature

Description

Billing rule

Charge based on actual usage. Generate a bill and deduct the amount from your account each billing cycle.

Billing cycle

Bill hourly. Deduct charges in real time (bills usually generate after the current billing cycle ends. Exact billing time depends on the system).

Billing items and pricing

  • Storage capacity:

    • The Chinese mainland: USD 0.00001956/GB/hour

    • Outside the Chinese mainland: USD 0.0000225/GB/hour

  • Outbound traffic over Internet: USD 0.05/GB

  • Request fee: EOS does not charge for PUT or GET requests.

Network Attached Storage (NAS)

NAS uses the pay-as-you-go billing method. You are billed hourly for your actual resource usage. For more information about NAS, see Overview of Network Attached Storage (NAS).

The fee is calculated using the following formula: Fee = Actual Resource Usage × Hourly Unit Price of the Resource
