Edge Network Acceleration:Edge access ports and lines

Last Updated:Dec 17, 2025

You connect to Edge Network Acceleration (ENA) through edge access ports and access lines. ENA provides secure, fast access to Alibaba Cloud points of presence (POPs). Use access lines to link your data centers or intranets to ENA POPs, and use ENA virtual connections to reach other data centers, corporate intranets, or network services such as Edge Node Service (ENS).

Background

  • The following table describes the components of ENA edge network resources.

    Component

    Description

    Edge access port

    • An edge access port is a physical port on a device in an ENA POP. It serves as the entry point for a data center or intranet to access ENA.

    • The port can be exclusively used by users, or shared through ENA partners.

    • Offers Layer 2 and Layer 3 options. Supports Edge Virtual Links (EVLs) on Layer 2 ports or Edge Virtual Border Routers (EVBR) on Layer 3 ports to access EPN instances.

    Edge access line

(Optional) Supports ENA to connect a data center or intranet to edge access ports through:

    • ENA partners using local or long-distance access lines

    • Users' own access lines

  • Network topology of ENA edge network resources:

Procedure

Step 1: Submit an application

  1. Log on to the ENA console, and choose Edge Network Resources > Edge Ports and Lines.

  2. On the Edge Ports and Lines page, click Apply For Edge Access Port and configure the following parameters.

    Parameters

    Description

    Basic Information

    Enterprise Information

Select configured Enterprise Information. If you have not yet configured it, refer to Enterprise basic information.

    Billing Method

    Subscription

Subscription means you pay in advance, before using the service. With Subscription, you can reserve resources and enjoy greater discounts.

    Edge Access Port Information

    Access Node

The ENA POPs of the edge access port. See ENA POP list.

    Port Owner

Exclusive port: Users have complete usage rights to the port and can allocate VLAN and bandwidth resources on their own.

    Port Type

Hybrid port: On a hybrid port, users can deploy both EVLs and EVBRs.

    Port Bandwidth

The maximum bandwidth value of the port.

To purchase a physical line through ENA, click Additional Edge Access Line and configure the following parameters:

    Configuration item

    Description

    Access Address

The detailed address of your enterprise data center or corporate intranet.

    Data Center ISP

The ISP of your enterprise data center.

    Note

Fill in this parameter with your information. ENA will provide physical line solutions based on it.

    Line Resource

    Default: Compliant Resource.

    Note

Choose China Telecom, China Unicom, and China Mobile Only if your enterprise requires the use of network resources provided by these three carriers.

    Line Bandwidth

The plan bandwidth of the line.

    Important

The line bandwidth cannot exceed the port bandwidth.

  3. Click Add and edge access port for other ports. A single page can support up to 10 edge access port settings.

  4. Select the user agreement and click Submit an application for edge access ports and lines.

Step 2: Requirement review and resource planning

After our engineers review your requirements, we will send orders to multiple suppliers and select suitable ones to deliver resources. During the review and planning process, we will contact you if needed. Please ensure we can reach you.

Step 3: Payment

After our engineers receive resource planning results from suppliers, you can make the payment by clicking the payment link in the console.

Step 4: Line construction

After receiving your payment, Alibaba Cloud will coordinate with suppliers to deliver services. Typically, the delivery takes 30 business days. In exceptional circumstances, we will proactively engage with you to discuss the next steps. If an exception occurs and we cannot deliver, we will provide a full refund.

Note

Skip this step if you use your own lines.

Step 5: Acceptance testing

After line construction is completed, test the lines and accept the delivery.

Step 6: Confirm service start time

During the acceptance testing, our engineers will contact you to check the testing status and coordinate a service start time with you. You will have three days to confirm or reschedule after the agreement is made.

  • If you confirm the service start time, the billing cycle for the edge network access port and line instance will start at that time.

  • If you want to reschedule, Alibaba Cloud engineers will assist you in doing so.

  • If you neither confirm nor reject, the system will automatically start the service after the three days.

Step 7: After-sales service

Once you've confirmed the service start time, after‑sales support begins.

Manage the service in the ENA console. Alibaba Cloud will set up a DingTalk service group with 24/7 support. Issue reports and cutover notifications will be sent in the group.
