WUYING Workspace provides the maintenance mode for you to maintain and manage cloud computers. You can put your cloud computers into maintenance mode in the WUYING Workspace console based on your business requirements. This topic describes how to put a cloud computer into maintenance mode.
Prerequisites
Before you can put a cloud computer into maintenance mode, you must obtain the permissions required to maintain cloud computers in the WUYING Workspace console. If you want to put a cloud computer into maintenance mode as a Resource Access Management (RAM) user, you must grant the RAM user the required permissions. For more information, see Grant permissions to a RAM user.
Background information
A cloud computer can have different states in maintenance mode. The following table describes the states of a cloud computer to help you better understand this mode.
State | Description | Procedure |
Running | The cloud computer is running and can be used by end users as expected. | On the Cloud Computers page, find the cloud computer that you want to put into maintenance mode and click Maintenance mode in the Actions column. |
Under Maintenance | The cloud computer is under maintenance. Before a cloud computer enters the Under Maintenance state, it is in the Pending state. The Pending state means that end users are using the cloud computer, and you must wait until all sessions of the cloud computer are disconnected after you click Maintenance Mode. After the cloud computer enters the Under Maintenance state, you can perform the maintenance operations on the cloud computer. For more information, see Feature description and Limits. | If you want to remove a cloud computer from the Under Maintenance state, click Exit in the Actions column of the cloud computer. |
Feature description
To install or uninstall configuration files or applications and manage the configurations of the system disks on a cloud computer, you must first put the cloud computer into the maintenance mode.
If you put a cloud computer that is not assigned to end users into maintenance mode, you cannot click View/Assign Users or Manage User MFA Device in the Actions column of the cloud computer.
If you put a cloud computer that is assigned to end users into maintenance mode, the cloud computer enters the Under Maintenance state as soon as the end users disconnect from the cloud computer. The end users cannot reconnect to the cloud computer until the cloud computer exits the maintenance mode.
If you put a cloud computer that is assigned to end users and contained in a cloud computer pool into maintenance mode, the cloud computer enters the Under Maintenance mode only after all sessions of the cloud computer are disconnected. This operation does not affect user experience with cloud computers. When an end user requests a cloud computer, the system checks whether idle cloud computers exist based on cloud computer scaling rules. If idle cloud computers exist, the system assigns one of the idle cloud computers to the end user.
The system records your maintenance operations on a cloud computer in the Under Maintenance state. You can view operation logs after your Alibaba Cloud account is granted with the required system policies. For more information, see Attach a WUYING Workspace system policy to a RAM user or View operations logs.
Limits
Before you put a cloud computer into maintenance mode, take note of the following limits:
You can put only cloud computers that are in the Stopped or Running state into maintenance mode.
After a cloud computer enters the Under Maintenance state, end users cannot connect to the cloud computer.
If a cloud computer in a cloud computer pool enters the Under Maintenance state, you cannot assign the cloud computer to end users during the maintenance window. In this case, make sure that extra cloud computers are available to respond to users' requests for cloud computers.
