Edge Security Acceleration:Origin protocol and port

Last Updated:Dec 24, 2025

By default, Edge Security Acceleration (ESA) points of presence (POPs) retrieve content from origin servers using the same protocol as the client. You can create origin rules to configure different protocols and ports, and apply the rules to origin requests that have different characteristics.

Create an origin protocol rule

  1. In the ESA console, choose Websites. In the Website column, click the target website.

  2. In the left navigation pane, choose Rules > Origin Rules.

  3. Click Create Rule and enter a Rule Name.

  4. In the If requests match... section, set the request features to match. For more information about how to configure rules, see Rule expression components.

  5. Click Configure in the Origin Protocol and Port section. Then, select an origin protocol and set the HTTP and HTTPS port numbers.

    Note

The 80 and 443 ports are used by default. Customize the port number if needed.

  6. Click OK.
