The backup download feature of ApsaraDB RDS is about to be upgraded and commercially released. In the commercial release, a free quota for backup downloads over the Internet is provided. If the traffic that you consume for downloading backup files over the Internet exceeds the free quota, you are charged additional fees.

- ApsaraDB RDS instances that are equipped with local SSDs: The commercial release is scheduled to be available in some of the Alibaba Cloud regions since 00:00 on November 25, 2021 and available in all Alibaba Cloud regions since 00:00 on December 2, 2021.
- ApsaraDB RDS instances that are equipped with standard SSDs or enhanced SSDs (ESSDs): The effective date and time are not specified.

Upgrade of the backup download feature
- Converts snapshot backup files or physical backup files to logical backup files that are stored in formats such as SQL, CSV, and Parquet. These formats can meet the business requirements in various scenarios such as testing, offline data analysis and statistics, and big data analysis.
- Allows you to download the logical backup files that are converted from snapshot backup files or physical backup files.
