This topic describes how to uninstall a GRID driver from a GPU-accelerated instance. The commands that you run to uninstall the GRID driver vary based on the OS that the instance runs.

Background information

You can use GPU-accelerated instances only if they are configured with relevant drivers. If you must uninstall the driver from your instance for some reasons, you must install a new driver that matches your instance family and OS to ensure the performance of your instance. Uninstall a GRID driver from Windows

In this example, an instance that belongs to the vGPU-accelerated instance family vgn6i and runs Windows Server 2019 is used.

  1. Connect to the instance. For more information, see Connect to a Windows instance by using a username and a password.
  2. In the lower-left corner of a Windows desktop, click the Windows icon and click Control Panel.

  3. In the Control Panel dialog box, click Uninstall a program.

  4. Find the GRID driver that you want to uninstall, right-click the driver, and then click Uninstall/Change.

  5. In the NVIDIA Uninstaller dialog box, click UNINSTALL.

  6. After you uninstall the driver, click RESTART NOW.

    After your instance is restarted, the GRID driver is uninstalled.

Uninstall a GRID driver from Linux

In this example, an instance that belongs to the vGPU-accelerated instance family vgn6i and runs Ubuntu 18.04 is used.

  1. Connect to the instance.
    Use one of the following methods to connect to the instance.

  2. Run the following command to uninstall the GRID driver and follow the prompts to perform operations.
    1. Run the following command to uninstall the GRID driver:
      nvidia-uninstall
    2. When the command output that indicates whether you need to back up the configuration file of your X screen is returned, we recommend that you click No and press Enter.
      Note The command output varies based on your OS type. You can click Yes or No based on your business requirements.
