This topic describes the features of Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) and how to get started with EDS.

An Alibaba Cloud account is created. For more information, see Sign up with Alibaba Cloud.

EDS provides two account systems: convenience accounts and enterprise Active Directory (AD) accounts. Convenience accounts are suitable for scenarios where you do not need to use AD. The following section describes how to get started with EDS by using a convenience account. The following flowchart shows the procedure to use EDS. Quick start
  1. Create a workspace

A workspace is a collection of environment configurations for cloud desktops and includes settings such as secure office networks and user account systems. Cloud desktops are deployed within workspaces.

  2. Create a convenience user

Convenience users are created based on the dedicated convenience account system of EDS. You need only to enter a username and an email address when you create a convenience user. After a convenience user is created, you can manage cloud desktops as the convenience user.

  3. Create a cloud desktop

You can use the default security policy and a desktop template to create a cloud desktop within a workspace and assign the cloud desktop to a convenience user.

  4. Connect to a cloud desktop

After you download and install the EDS client, you can log on to the client as a convenience user and then connect to cloud desktops.
