If you create an anti-ransomware policy for your server and the data of your server is encrypted by ransomware, you can create a restoration task to restore the encrypted data. This reduces your loss. This topic describes how to create a restoration task, view the task status, and delete backup data.

Prerequisites

  • The Security Center agent is enabled for your server.
  • An anti-ransomware policy is created for your server. For more information, see Create a protection policy.
  • The anti-ransomware policy is applied to your server, and the data of the server is backed up based on the policy.

    1. Log on to the Security Center console.
    2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose DefenseAnti-ransomware.
    3. On the General Anti-ransomware Solutions page, click the Server extortion virus protection tab.
    4. In the upper part of the anti-ransomware policy list, click the number below Recoverable Version to go to the Recoverable Version panel.
    5. In the panel, select the server region, or enter the server name or server IP address to search for versions of backup data of your server.

      View versions of backup data

Note: If no versions of backup data are returned, the data of your server is not backed up.

Background information

Security Center backs up the data of your server based on the anti-ransomware policy that you created. If you use the recommended policy, you can select a version of backup data to restore the data of your server.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the Security Center console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Defense > Anti-ransomware.
  3. On the General Anti-ransomware Solutions page, click the Server extortion virus protection tab.
  4. In the anti-ransomware policy list of the Server extortion virus protection tab, find the server on which you want to run the restoration task.
To search for the server, you can enter the name of an anti-ransomware policy that is applied to the server or the server name in the search box above the anti-ransomware policy list.
  5. Click Restore in the Actions column. The Restoration panel appears.
  6. In the Restoration panel, configure the following parameters: Select a restored version, Select a restore file, Recovery directory address, and Recovery target machine.
  7. Click OK.
After the restoration task is created, the The Restore task is created message is displayed. You can log on to the server to view the restored data.

Related operations

  • View information about a restoration task
In the upper part of the anti-ransomware policy list, click the number below Restoring / Records to go to the Restore Tasks panel. You can view information about each restoration task. The information includes the status of the restoration task, the total number of restored files, and the number of files that fail to be restored. If a restoration task fails, you can view the causes of the failure. If the restoration task fails due to an invalid directory, you must recreate a restoration task to restore data. • Delete backup data
    Notice
    • Deleted backup data cannot be restored. Proceed with caution.
    • After you delete backup data, the server capacity is released after 24 to 72 hours.
    • You cannot delete the latest version of backup data. If you want to delete the latest version of backup data, uninstall the anti-ransomware agent from your server and delete the server to which the anti-ransomware policy is applied.
If you no longer require backup data of a server, you can delete the backup data. In the upper part of the anti-ransomware policy list, click the number below Recoverable Version to go to the Recoverable Version panel. In the panel, you can select the server region or enter the server name or server IP address to search for the versions of backup data of the server. In the list of versions of backup data, find a version that you want to delete and click Delete in the Actions column. After the backup data is deleted, the server capacity is released.
