ApsaraDB for MyBase:Create an ApsaraDB MyBase for MySQL instance

Last Updated:Apr 11, 2024

Before you use the features of ApsaraDB for MyBase, you must create instances on the hosts in your ApsaraDB for MyBase dedicated cluster. The instances are created on the hosts based on the resource allocation policy that is selected.

Prerequisites

Hosts are created in an ApsaraDB MyBase for MySQL dedicated cluster. For more information, see Create a host in an ApsaraDB MyBase for MySQL dedicated cluster.

Background information

For more information about ApsaraDB for MyBase, see What is ApsaraDB for MyBase?

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for MyBase console.

  2. In the upper-left corner of the page, select a region.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, click Dedicated Clusters. On the page that appears, find the ApsaraDB MyBase for MySQL dedicated cluster in which you want to create an instance and click Details in the Actions column.

  4. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances. On the page that appears, click Create Instance.

  5. In the panel that appears, configure the parameters that are described in the following table.

    Parameter

    Description

    Dedicated Cluster

The dedicated cluster in which you want to create the instance.

    Database Engine

The database engine of the instance. It is automatically set to MySQL and cannot be changed.

    Current Version

The version of the database engine.

    Storage Engine

The storage engine of the instance. It is automatically set to InnoDB. This parameter is available only when you set Engine Version to 8.0.

    Edition

The edition of the instance. For more information about instance editions, see Overview.

    Note

High-availability Edition is supported for instances that run MySQL 8.0, 5.7, or 5.6.

    Parameter Template

The parameter template of the instance.

    Note

This parameter is available only when you set Edition to High-availability Edition.

    Time Zone

The time zone of the instance.

    Table Name Case Sensitivity

Specifies whether the names of the tables in the instance are case-sensitive.

    Storage Type

The storage type of the instance.

    Note

If you set Edition to High-availability Edition, the local SSD and enhanced SSD (ESSD) types are available.

    • If you select an ESSD type, you can select Disk Encryption to encrypt data. For more information, see Data encryption.

    • If you select an ESSD type, Automatic Storage Expansion is automatically selected. You can specify the trigger condition and upper limit for automatic storage expansion. When an automatic storage expansion is triggered, the storage space automatically expands by 5 GB or 15% of the current storage space, whichever value is greater.

    Instance Specifications

    The specifications of the instance.

    Storage Capacity

The storage capacity of the instance. If you set Edition to High-availability Edition, you can set the Automatic Storage Expansion parameter.

    Automatic Storage Expansion

Specifies whether the primary instance supports automatic storage expansion.

    • If you select Automatic Storage Expansion, you must set the Available Storage Space and Maximum Storage parameters.

      Note

If the current available storage space is less than or equal to the threshold, an automatic storage expansion is triggered.

    • If you clear Automatic Storage Expansion, automatic storage expansion is not supported.

    Note

This parameter is available only when you set Edition to High-availability Edition.

    Deployment Method

The deployment method that you want to use. You can select Default Policy or Specified Host.

    Note
    • If you select Default Policy, the balanced allocation policy is used. In this case, the system preferentially deploys the instance on the hosts that have no loads or smaller loads.

    • If you select Specified Host, you must select the hosts on which you want to deploy the instance.

    Network Settings

    • VPC

    • Zone

    • vSwitch

The network settings of the instance.

    • By default, the virtual private cloud (VPC) of the dedicated cluster in which the instance resides is displayed.

    • The zone of the host within the dedicated cluster is displayed.

    • The vSwitch to which the host is connected is displayed. If no vSwitches are available, you can click Create VSwitch.

    Billing Method

The billing method of the instance. It is automatically set to Pay-as-you-go.

    Note

If the instance is deployed on a host that uses ESSDs, you must pay for the disk space allocated to the instance. This is because you are charged only for computing resources when you purchase a host that uses ESSDs. You can purchase subscription storage plans to reduce storage costs. A storage plan can be used to offset the storage costs of pay-as-you-go instances within the same region as the storage plan.

  6. Click Create.

    Note

In the left-side navigation pane, you can choose Instances > MySQL to view the creation progress and status of the instance.
