This topic describes the billing methods, billable items, and pricing of Public DNS.
Billing method
Public DNS supports only the pay-as-you-go billing method.
Billable item
Public DNS is billed based on the number of HTTP-based resolutions. The number of HTTPS-based resolutions (including DoH-based and DoT-based resolutions) or the number of UDP/TCP-based resolutions is converted into the number of HTTP-based resolutions for billing based on the following rules:
One HTTPS-based resolution equals to five HTTP-based resolutions. A DoH-based resolution or DoT-based resolution is treated as an HTTPS-based resolution.
Two UDP- or TCP-based resolutions equal to one HTTP-based resolution.
Billing cycle
Public DNS generates daily bills.
On the first day of each month, Public DNS provides a free quota of 10 million HTTP-based resolutions. After you use up the free monthly quota, you are charged for excess resolutions.
The free quota is provided on a monthly basis. The remaining quota from the previous month does not roll over.
