FAQ about key domain name monitoring

How is key domain name monitoring different from self-deployed Ping monitoring?

The two services focus on different areas. Ping monitoring checks if a server's IP address is reachable. Key domain name monitoring focuses on the security and health of the DNS parsing path. It can detect issues that Ping monitoring misses, such as:

  • DNS hijacking: The domain name can be successfully pinged, but its resolved IP address has been maliciously altered.

  • Regional parsing failures: The server is running normally, but users in a specific region cannot retrieve the correct IP address because of local DNS issues. This causes access failures.

  • Degraded parsing performance: The parsing process takes too long, which causes slow website loading for users.

Key domain name monitoring ensures the correctness, security, and performance of DNS parsing from the source. It can supplement Ping monitoring.

What notification methods does key domain name monitoring support?

It supports multiple notification methods, such as email, text messages, and Webhook. You can configure one or more methods to fit your team's emergency response procedures.

How is key domain name monitoring billed?

Key domain name monitoring uses a pay-as-you-go billing method. For more information, see Product Billing.
