Answers to common questions about purchasing and managing Data Management (DMS) resources.
How do I view and manage my orders?
Log on to the DMS console V5.0.
In the top navigation bar, move the pointer over the
icon and click DMS Order Management. In the simple mode of the DMS console, move the pointer over the profile picture in the upper-right corner, then choose Billing > DMS Order Management.
In the Purchase specification details dialog box, review your purchased resources — database instances managed in the security collaboration or stable change control mode, and instances with sensitive data protection enabled. The dialog box shows both used and available quotas. Based on your quota status:
Quota is insufficient: Upgrade your subscription or purchase an additional pay-as-you-go resource. See Upgrade service specifications and Purchase the DMS service.
Quota is sufficient but you want to reduce it: Unsubscribe from some pay-as-you-go resources to lower the total quota. Before doing so, verify the change won't affect your business. See Unsubscribe from pay-as-you-go resources.
Are DMS orders bound to specific database instances?
No. DMS orders are not bound to specific database instances. Quotas for control modes (security collaboration and stable change) and for sensitive data protection apply across all database instances in DMS, giving you the flexibility to allocate them as needed.
Do subscription and pay-as-you-go resources offer the same features?
Yes. The available features in DMS are identical regardless of whether you use a subscription or pay-as-you-go resource.
Why am I still receiving bills after unsubscribing from a pay-as-you-go resource?
DMS pay-as-you-go resources are billed daily. The bill for the day you unsubscribe is generated the following day. Bills stop two days after unsubscription.
If I release an RDS instance in the RDS console, does DMS stop charging for it?
No. DMS charges continue until you manually remove the instance from the DMS console. DMS orders are not bound to database instances, so releasing an RDS (ApsaraDB RDS) instance in the RDS console does not automatically remove it from DMS.
After you remove the instance in the DMS console, its quota is released and becomes available for other instances. See Remove database instances.
How do I unsubscribe from or downgrade a subscription resource?
To unsubscribe, go to the Subscribe page in the Alibaba Cloud Management Console.
After you successfully unsubscribe from the resource, you can perform a downgrade. Use the same Alibaba Cloud account to purchase a subscription resource again on the buy page. After the subscription order is downgraded, the quota for the new subscription resource cannot exceed the specifications in the order — if it does, DMS disables the instance for which the quota is exceeded.
Complete the unsubscription and the new purchase on the same day, within a four-hour window.
