Data Disaster Recovery provides flexible backup and restoration features for Alibaba Cloud databases and databases hosted on Elastic Compute Service (ECS). You can download cloud backup sets to your local device to enhance data security in a manual or automatic manner. The downloaded backup sets can be used to restore data to a local database, perform Excel analysis and audit, or back up data to a local device for storage.
Overview
Data Disaster Recovery packages and compresses backup files and converts them into downloadable CSV files. This process takes about 15 minutes. You can download backup files in a manual or automatic manner through the Data Disaster Recovery backup gateway. For more information, see Manually download a backup set and Configure automatic download of backup sets.
Limits and formats
Before you download a backup set, check its validity period.
The download process takes an amount of time. If the backup set that you want to download is about to expire, we recommend that you extend the retention period of the backup set in advance to prevent data from being automatically deleted during the download process.
After the backup set is downloaded, you can change its retention period to the original setting. For more information, see Modify the lifecycle of a backup schedule.
