Data Management:Delete a backup set

Last Updated:Jun 13, 2025

Data Disaster Recovery generates a backup set each time a backup schedule is executed. This topic describes how to manually delete backup sets that you no longer need in the console to reduce storage costs.

Prerequisites

Three full backup sets exist for the backup schedule that you want to manage.

Important

If this prerequisite is not met, you cannot delete a backup set for a backup schedule.

Limits

  • You can delete only a single backup set at a time. You cannot delete multiple backup sets at a time.

  • You can delete only full backup sets. You cannot delete incremental backup sets.

  • To ensure the continuity of the restored data, you can delete only the earliest backup set.

Procedure

  1. Log on to Data Management DMS 5.0.

  2. In the top navigation bar, choose Security and Specifications (DBS) > Data Disaster Recovery (DBS) > Backup Plan.

    Note

If you use the DMS console in simple mode, move the pointer over the 2023-01-28_15-57-17.png icon in the upper-left corner of the DMS console and choose All Features > Security and Specifications (DBS) > Data Disaster Recovery (DBS) > Backup Plan.

  3. Find the backup schedule that you want to manage and click its ID. In the left-side navigation pane of the page that appears, choose Backup Tasks > Full Data

  4. Find the backup set that you want to delete and click Delete Backup Set. image

  5. In the dialog box that appears, click OK.

    Warning

You cannot restore a deleted backup set. Proceed with caution.
