Types of emails allowed by Direct Mail
Triggered emails: Emails that are sent in response to user actions or system events, such as registration notifications, transaction notifications, password reset verifications, and system alerts.
Batch emails: Emails sent to multiple recipients, such as product promotions and newsletters.
Note: Triggered emails can only be sent using an API or SMTP. Batch emails can be sent using any method.
Alibaba Cloud permits only permission-based commercial emails. Recipient addresses must be obtained from member registrations, and users must have actively subscribed to the content. Do not send unsolicited spam.
Additional information
1. Requirements for email content
Email content must not contain sensitive words or information related to social media and resource sharing, such as WeChat, QQ, QR codes, group information, Facebook, and cloud storage drives.
The email body must include a salutation, a detailed and compliant description of the content, and a valid unsubscribe link.
Do not send emails that fail to meet the two preceding requirements.
2. Permitted emails on the platform
First, email content must not include sensitive words, such as reactionary, obscene, abusive, or insulting language.
Second, recipients must have registered on your website and actively subscribed to the emails. For example, users may subscribe to periodic discount promotions from a store that they follow on an e-commerce platform, or to job recommendations after they register on a recruitment website.
Do not send prospecting emails. These are unsolicited promotional emails sent to non-members, non-registered users, or users who have not given permission. This includes sending emails to recipients whose contact addresses were obtained from third-party channels without their direct consent.
If the recipient is a business partner, you must personalize the email and include a salutation and an unsubscribe option. Note that if a recipient complains about your email, we will freeze the sender address that was used to send the email and all other sender addresses under your Alibaba Cloud account in that region. After the freeze, the Direct Mail console for that region becomes unusable.
Do not send emails that fail to meet the preceding requirements.
Note: You are responsible for implementing and managing the unsubscribe link and process.
How the unsubscribe service works
The unsubscribe service is usually part of your own system. Each email that you send must contain a special unsubscribe link that includes the recipient's email address. When a recipient clicks this link, a request is sent to your unsubscribe service. Your service then parses the recipient's address from the link and removes it from your mailing list.
