Dataphin:Intelligent generation

Last Updated:Nov 18, 2025

The intelligent generation feature uses asset metadata, such as asset source and status, and leverages large models to generate system properties for assets in batches. These properties include display names, descriptions, asset tags, and parent directories. After you confirm the information, you can list the assets in batches with a single click. This feature significantly improves the efficiency of asset listing. This topic describes how to create and manage intelligent generation tasks for table and technical metric assets.

Prerequisites

You must purchase the X-Directory Management and Asset Operation features to use intelligent generation.

Limits

  • Intelligent generation is supported only for specific system properties of table, field, and technical metric assets.

  • Intelligent generation task records are retained for only 90 days.

Permissions

Super administrators, system administrators, and users with custom global roles that have Listing Management - Manage permissions can create and manage intelligent generation tasks.

Create an intelligent generation task

You must enable the X-Directory Management intelligent application before you can create an intelligent generation task.

  1. On the Dataphin homepage, go to Super X > Intelligent Application Management in the top menu bar.

  2. In the navigation pane on the left, click Intelligent Application. On the Intelligent Application page, complete the model call configuration and enable the X-Directory Management intelligent application.

  3. On the Dataphin homepage, go to Asset > Directory Management in the top menu bar.

  4. In the navigation pane on the left, choose Auto Listing > Intelligent Generation. On the Intelligent Generation page, click the New Intelligent Generation Task button in the upper-right corner.

  5. In the New Intelligent Generation Task dialog box, configure the parameters.

    Parameter

    Description

    Basic Information

    Task Name

Enter a name for the intelligent generation task. The name must be globally unique and cannot exceed 128 characters.

    Asset Selection

    Asset Type

Select the asset type for intelligent generation. Table and Metric assets are supported.

    Asset Scope

Define the asset scope to filter for the assets that require intelligent generation. You can filter by asset status (the "Temporarily Unlisted" status is not supported for this condition), full asset name, asset name, asset display name, asset source, and asset tags.

    • Asset Status (the "Temporarily Unlisted" status is not supported for this property) and Asset Source: The supported filter conditions are Is and Is Not.

Belongs To/Does Not Belong To: When the asset property is Asset status, you need to select a summary status for the asset. Supported statuses include pre-listing assets (including Unlisted, Listing failed, and Temporary delisting failed) and listed assets (including Listed, Update pending listing, Update listing failed, and Delisting failed). When the asset property is Asset source, you can select the asset source that corresponds to the scope of intelligently generated assets.

    • Full Asset Name, Asset Name, and Asset Display Name: The supported filter conditions are Prefix Match, Suffix Match, Contains, Is, and Is Empty (only supported for Asset Display Name).

      • Prefix Match, Suffix Match, and Contains: You can enter up to 256 characters.

      • Is: You can select up to 500 assets.

      • Is Empty: No configuration is required.

    • Asset Tag: The supported filter conditions are Contains Any and Contains All. Custom global roles with Listing Management-Manage permissions can click the Tag Management button to navigate to the Asset > Folder Management > Other Settings > Basic Settings page to create a new tag.

      • Contains Any: The asset must have at least one of the selected tag values to meet the condition.

      • Contains All: The asset must have all of the selected tag values to meet the condition.

    Note
    • You can configure a maximum of 10 filter conditions.

    • The relationship between filter conditions can be configured as AND or OR.

    Property Configuration

    Table Properties/Field Properties/Metric Properties

Select the system properties of the asset for which you want to use intelligent generation. When the Asset Type is table, you can select Table Property, Field Property, and Metric Property (available only for metric listing management). When the Asset Type is metric, you can select Metric Property.

    Auto-detect Metrics

This can be configured when the asset type is Table. It is disabled by default. When disabled, custom metrics that may exist in the table are not automatically detected. If you also select metric properties, the system only intelligently generates the selected system properties for existing modeled metrics and custom metrics in the table.

When enabled, custom metrics that may exist in the table are automatically detected. If you also select metric properties, the system intelligently generates the selected system properties for all metrics.

    Note
    • The system only performs auto-detection for tables that support custom metrics (excluding logical tables and logical views).

    • When generating properties for a single table, you must manually select the data category. During batch generation, if a table has an unconfigured data category, the system skips detection for that table. You can manually configure it and then run the detection again.

  6. Click OK to create the intelligent generation task.

Manage intelligent generation tasks

  1. The Intelligent Generation page lists all created tasks and displays the following information for each task: Task Name/Asset Type, Generated Properties, Total Assets, Generation Progress, Review Status, Creator, and Creation Time.

Total Assets: For table assets, this is a count of the tables, not the metrics.

  2. You can search for tasks by name, filter them by asset type, creator, or generation progress, or use the Created By Me quick filter.

  3. In the Actions column for a specific task, you can perform the following operations.

    • View: Click this option to open the task details page. On this page, you can view successfully generated assets and assets that failed to generate, and perform other operations. For more information, see the Intelligent generation asset list section below.

    • Delete: This operation is not available while a task is in progress. Deleting a task also deletes all its generated content. This action cannot be undone, so proceed with caution.
