This topic describes the prerequisites, benefits, billing rules, and usage notes for using Database Autonomy Service (DAS) Professional Edition.

Prerequisites

  • The database instance that you want to manage is of one of the following types:
    • ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL High-availability Edition and Enterprise Edition
    • ApsaraDB RDS for SQL Server High-availability Edition and Cluster Edition
    • ApsaraDB RDS for PostgreSQL High-availability Edition
    • PolarDB for MySQL Single Node Edition, X-Engine, Cluster Edition, and Multi-master Cluster (Database/Table)
    • PolarDB-X 2.0
  • The SQL Explorer and Audit feature is available in different regions for different types of databases.

Benefits

After you enable DAS Professional Edition is enabled, you can use the following features:
  • Search: allows you to query SQL statements by specifying search conditions and export the information about SQL statements. For more information, see Search.
  • Security audit: helps you identify high-risk SQL statements, SQL injection attacks, abnormal SQL statements, and new request sources to ensure data security. For more information, see Security audit.
  • SQL Explorer: allows you to identify faults, query SQL templates and traffic data of databases, and check the health status of SQL statements. For more information, see SQL Explorer. SQL Explorer also allows you to perform the following operations:
    • Pre-compute, analyze, aggregate, and store SQL statements at the minute level for fast responses.
    • Troubleshoot errors caused by faulty SQL statements.
    • Export SQL templates and traffic data of databases.
  • Intelligent stress testing: can be used to evaluate database capacity, play back traffic for stress testing, and perform peak stress testing based on the previous business scenarios and traffic data. For more information, see Traffic playback and stress testing.

Billing rules

For information about the billing rules of DAS Professional Edition, see Billing overview.

Usage notes

  • DAS Professional Edition is subject to the following limits:
    • DAS Professional Edition does not support self-managed databases.
    • DAS Professional Edition does not support ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL Basic Edition instances, but supports ApsaraDB RDS for MySQL High-availability Edition instances.
  • You can purchase DAS Professional Edition only once for each Alibaba Cloud account. For more information about how to purchase DAS Professional Edition, see Purchase DAS Professional Edition.
  • The default data storage duration of DAS Professional Edition is one month. You can change the storage duration after you purchase DAS Professional Edition. For more information, see Manage DAS Professional Edition.
    Note
    • After SQL Explorer is enabled for a database instance, the analytical and statistical data (excluding SQL details) generated by SQL Explorer can be stored for up to 90 days.
      • If you set the storage duration to no more than 90 days when you enable DAS Professional Edition for the database instance, the analytical and statistical data (excluding SQL details) generated by SQL Explorer is stored for the specified duration.
      • If you set the storage duration to more than 90 days when you enable DAS Professional Edition for the database instance, the analytical and statistical data (excluding SQL details) generated by SQL Explorer is stored only for 90 days.
    • The storage duration of SQL details generated by SQL Explorer is the same as the storage duration that is specified when DAS Professional Edition is enabled for the database instance.
  • The search, security audit, or SQL Explorer feature can be used only for data that is generated after DAS Professional Edition is enabled and is within the specified storage duration. For more information about the preceding features, see Search, Security audit, and SQL Explorer.
  • If you disable DAS Professional Edition for a database instance, the SQL Explorer and Audit feature is disabled and all data generated by DAS Professional Edition is deleted. Data generated by DAS Professional Edition includes the data that is generated by SQL Explorer and other analytical features of DAS Professional Edition. You must export and save the data to your computer before you disable DAS Professional Edition for the database instance. For more information, see Disable SQL Explorer and Audit.
  • When you enable DAS Professional Edition for a database instance, your Alibaba Cloud account must have available instances for DAS Professional Edition. For more information about how to increase the number of available instances, see Manage DAS Professional Edition. s
