In Data Management (DMS), common users can apply for and release permissions. DMS
administrators, database administrators (DBAs), or database owners can grant common
users permissions on specific instances and revoke these permissions. In addition,
a DMS administrator can grant permissions to or revoke permissions from multiple common
users at a time.
Apply for permissions as a common user
This section shows you how to apply for the query permissions on a database as a common
user. For more information, see Permission management.
- Log on to the DMS console.
- In the top navigation bar, choose .
- On the Permission Application Ticket tab, enter the prefix of a database name in the field, set the parameters as required,
and then click Search.
- Select the database that you want from the matched result and click Add. The database appears in the Selected Databases/Tables/Columns section.
- In the Select Permission section, set the parameters as required and click Submit. The following table describes the parameters.

The type of permission for which you want to apply. Valid values: Query, Export, and Change.
Note You can select one or more permission types.

Duration |
The validity period of the selected one or more permissions. |
Reason |
The description of the business background and the reason for this application. This
reduces unnecessary communication and facilitates the approval process.

Note After a permission application ticket is submitted, wait until the ticket is approved.
You can view the status of the ticket in the My Tickets section of the Workbench tab.
Release permissions as a common user
A common user can release permissions before the permissions expire. This section
describes how to release permissions on a database within the validity period.
- Log on to the DMS console.
- In the top navigation bar, choose .
- On the Permissions tab, enter the prefix of a database name in the field, set the parameters as required,
and then click Search.
- Select the database that you want from the matched result and click Release Permission.
- In the Permission Operation dialog box, select one or more types of permissions that you want to release and
click OK.
Manage permissions of a user as a DMS administrator
This section shows you how to grant a user permissions on a database and revoke these
permissions as a DMS administrator.
- Log on to the DMS console.
- In the top navigation bar, choose .
To grant permissions, perform the following steps:
- Find the user that you want, move the pointer over Authorize in the column, and then select Authorize database.

Note You can also select multiple users at a time, click at the top of the tab, and then select
Authorize database, as shown in the following figure.

- In the Authorize database dialog box, set the parameters as required and click OK. The following table describes the parameters.

To revoke permissions, perform the following steps:
- Find the user that you want, move the pointer over More in the Actions column, and then select Permission Details.
- In the User Permissions dialog box, select the database that you want and click Release Permission.
- In the Permission Operation dialog box, select one or more types of permissions that you want to revoke and click
OK.
Manage permissions on a database as a DBA
This section shows you how to grant a user permissions on a database and revoke these
permissions as a DBA. The operations in this section can also be performed by a DMS
administrator.
- Log on to the DMS console.
- In the top navigation bar, choose .
- Find the database that you want and click Details in the Actions column.
- On the Database List tab, find the database that you want, move the pointer over in the Actions column, and then select Permission Management.
To grant permissions, perform the following steps:
- In the Permission Management dialog box, click Grant Permissions on Database.
- In the Authorize user dialog box, set the parameters as required and click OK. The following table describes the parameters.

- In the Permission Management dialog box, find the user that you want and click Recycle Permission in the Actions column.

Note To revoke permissions of multiple users on the database at a time, select the multiple
users and click
Recycle Permission, as shown in the following figure.

- In the Permission Operation dialog box, select one or more types of permissions that you want to revoke and click
OK.
Manage permissions on a database as a database owner
This section shows you how to grant a user permissions on a database and revoke these
permissions as a database owner. The operations in this section can also be performed
by a DMS administrator.
- Log on to the DMS console.
- In the Owned Databases/Tables section of the Workbench tab, click Logical/Physical DB.
- On the Owned Databases/Tables tab, find the database that you want and click Permission Management in the Actions column.

Note To grant permissions on multiple databases to a user at a time, select the multiple
databases and click
Authorize user, as shown in the following figure.

To grant permissions, perform the following steps:
- In the Permission Management dialog box, click Grant Permissions on Database.
- In the Authorize user dialog box, set the parameters as required and click OK. The following table describes the parameters.
