This topic describes how to manage a database on the Database List tab of the Instances page in the Data Management (DMS) console.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the DMS console V5.0.
  2. Click Data Assets in the top navigation bar. In the left-side navigation pane, click Instances. Then, click the Databases List tab.
  3. Set the filter conditions such as the instance address or name to search for the database that you want to manage.
  4. Select the database and perform the following operations on the database based on your business requirements:

    • Set owners
      1. Click Set Owner.
      2. In the Set Data Owner dialog box, select a user as the owner of the database.
        Note You can select one or more users as the owners of the database.
      3. Click OK.
    • Change owners
      1. Click Transfer Ownership.
      2. In the Transfer Ownership dialog box, select a user from the Original Owner and Target Owner drop-down lists.
        Note You can select one or more users from the drop-down lists.
      3. Click OK.
    • Release owners
      1. Click Release Owner.
      2. In the Release Owner dialog box, select a user from the Original Owner drop-down list.
        Note You can select one or more owners to release the owners.
      3. Click OK.
    • Grant permissions to users
      1. Click Authorize User.
      2. In the Authorize User dialog box, set the parameters that are described in the following table.
        Parameter Description
        Add User Add one or more users based on your business requirements.
        Permission Grant the query, export, or change permissions to the added users based on your business requirements.
        Note You can grant one or more permissions to users.
        Expire Date Select a validity period for the granted permissions based on your business requirements.
      3. Click OK.
    • Revoke permissions from owners
      1. Click Recycle Permission.
      2. In the Recycle Permission dialog box, set the parameters that are described in the following table.
        Parameter Description
        Recycler Select one or more original data owners of the database.
        Note If you select a user who is not an owner of the database, an error message appears when you click OK. Make sure that you select a correct data owner of the database.
        Permission Revoke the query, export, or change permissions from the selected owners.
        Note You can revoke one or more permissions from owners.
      3. Click OK.
    • Perform batch operations
      • Export Config: Click Export config to download the database configurations to your on-premises device in an Excel file. In the downloaded file, you can view information such as the instance status, environment, database administrator (DBA), and owners of the database.
      • Export permissions: Click Export permissions to download the authorization information about the database to your on-premises device in an Excel file. In the downloaded file, you can view information such as the database name, the users who have permissions on the database, the permissions that are granted to the users, and the users who grant the permissions.
      • Access control: If you enable metadata access control, only users who have permissions on the database can search for the database or instance. If the metadata access control feature is disabled, all users can search for and gain access to the database or instance.
        Note You can enable the metadata access control feature only for databases or instances that are managed in Security Collaboration mode.

    You can also click More in the Actions column that corresponds to the database and perform operations such as single-database query, permission management, and access control.
