How to manage monitoring charts on a custom dashboard - Cloud Monitor

You can add monitoring charts from multiple cloud services to a single dashboard for centralized viewing.

Prerequisites

Ensure that you have created a custom dashboard. For more information, see Create a custom dashboard.

Background

Cloud Monitor provides a default ECS dashboard that displays key metrics for your instances. To monitor other cloud services, add monitoring charts to a custom dashboard. Each dashboard supports up to 20 monitoring charts.

The following table describes the supported chart types and their limitations.

Type	Description	Limitations
Line chart	Displays monitoring data as a time series. You can add multiple metrics.	Each line chart can display up to 10 lines.
Area chart	Displays monitoring data as a time series. You can add multiple metrics.	Each area chart can display up to 10 areas.
Table	Ranks resources in ascending or descending order based on the latest value of a single metric from the last three hours. For example, you can rank the CPU utilization of all ECS instances from high to low. You can add only one metric.	Each table can display up to 1,000 ranked rows.
Heat map	A heat map shows the distribution and comparison of real-time data for a specific metric across multiple instances. For example, you can use a heat map to visualize the CPU utilization levels of multiple instances. You can add only one metric.	Each heat map can display up to 1,000 color blocks.
Pie chart	Displays real-time data for a metric and typically compares proportions. You can add only one metric.	None.

Add a monitoring chart

Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Visualization > Custom Dashboards.
On the Custom Dashboards tab, click the name of the target dashboard.
At the top of the page, click Add and select Visualization Component from the menu.
On the Visualization Component panel, select a chart type, a cloud service, and a metric.

On the Cloud Service Monitoring tab, select the target cloud service and set a name for the monitoring chart. Then, select the target metric and configure its statistical method and associated resource.

Click OK.

Modify a monitoring chart

Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Visualization > Custom Dashboards.
On the Custom Dashboards page, click the name of the target dashboard.
In the upper-right corner of the target monitoring chart, click the icon, and then click Edit.
In the monitoring chart selector in the upper-right corner, reselect the chart type, cloud service, and metric.
Click OK.

Delete a monitoring chart

Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Visualization > Custom Dashboards.
On the Custom Dashboards page, click the name of the target dashboard.
In the upper-right corner of the target monitoring chart, click the icon, and then click Delete.
Click OK.

View monitoring charts

Log on to the Cloud Monitor console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose Visualization > Custom Dashboards.
On the Custom Dashboards page, click the name of the target dashboard.
Select a time range for the monitoring charts.

Note
Monitoring data is available for the last 30 days.
View the monitoring charts.
- Click the icon in the upper-right corner to view all monitoring charts on the dashboard in full-screen mode.
- Click the icon in the upper-right corner to refresh the data on all monitoring charts.
