CloudMonitor manages system events and custom events of Alibaba Cloud services in a centralized manner. You can configure alert rules for the system events of Alibaba Cloud services. This allows you to receive alert notifications at the earliest opportunity if exceptions occur. Then, you can efficiently analyze and troubleshoot issues.

Prerequisites

An application group is created and resources are added to the application group if you need to apply alert rules to instances by application group. For more information, see Create an application group and Add resources to the application group.

The following table describes the event types and Alibaba Cloud services that are supported by CloudMonitor.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the CloudMonitor console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Event Monitoring > System Event.
  3. Click the Event Alert tab.
  4. Click Create Alert Rule.
  5. In the Create / Modify Event Alert panel, set the parameters of the system event-triggered alert rule.
    Parameter Description
    Alert Rule Name The name of the event-triggered alert rule.
    Product Type The Alibaba Cloud service to which the event-triggered alert rule is applied. For more information about the Alibaba Cloud services that are supported by CloudMonitor, see Appendix 2: System events.
    Event Type The type of the event that triggers alerts. For more information about the types of the events that are supported by each Alibaba Cloud service, see Appendix 2: System events.
    Event Level The level of the event that triggers alerts. For more information about the levels of the events that are supported by each Alibaba Cloud service, see Appendix 2: System events.
    Event Name The name of the event that triggers alerts. For more information about the names of the events that are supported by each Alibaba Cloud service, see Appendix 2: System events.
    Keyword Filtering The keywords that are used to filter the alert rule. Valid values:
    • Contains any of the keywords: If the alert rule contains any one of the specified keywords, no alert notification is sent.
    • Does not contain any of the keywords: If the alert rule does not contain any one of the specified keywords, no alert notification is sent.
    SQL Filter The SQL statement that is used to filter the alert rule.
    Resource Range The range of the resources to which the event-triggered alert rule is applied. Valid values:
    • All Resources: If the Resource Range parameter is set to All Resources, CloudMonitor sends an alert notification when the specified event occurs on a resource.
    • Application Group: If the Resource Range parameter is set to Application Group, CloudMonitor sends an alert notification only when the specified event occurs on a resource in the application group.
    Contact Group The alert contact group that receives alert notifications.
    Notification Method The severity level and notification method of the event alert. Valid values:
    • Critical (Email + DingTalk)
    • Warning (Email + DingTalk)
    • Info (Email + DingTalk)
    MNS Queue The Message Service (MNS) queue to which the event alert is delivered.
    Function Compute The Function Compute function to which the event alert is delivered.
    URL Callback The callback URL that can be accessed over the Internet. CloudMonitor sends a POST request to push an alert notification to the specified callback URL. Only HTTP requests are supported. For more information about how to configure alert callback, see Configure callbacks for system event-triggered alerts.
    Log Service The specified Logstore in Log Service to which the event alert is delivered.
    Mute For The interval at which CloudMonitor sends alert notifications until the alert that is triggered based on the alert rule is cleared. Valid values: 5 min, 15 min, 30 min, 60 min, 3 h, 6 h, 12 h, and 24 h.
  6. Click OK.
