You can use CloudMonitor to view bandwidth information about cross-region connections and set thresholds for alert rules. This way, you are notified when bandwidth usage exceeds specified thresholds. You can reallocate bandwidth resources as needed to ensure that your services are not affected.

View monitoring information about cross-region connections

  1. Log on to CEN console.
  2. On the Instances page, find the CEN instance that you want to manage and click its ID.
  3. Choose Basic Settings > Transit Router, find the transit router that is associated with the cross-region connection, and then click the ID of the transit router.
  4. On the details page of the transit router, click the Cross-region Connections tab.
  5. On the Cross-region Connections tab, find the cross-region connection and click Monitor in the Monitor column to view monitoring information.

By default, the system displays monitoring data collected within the last hour. You can also choose to view monitoring data collected within the last 3 hours, 6 hours, 12 hours, or the last day by selecting an option from the drop-down list in the upper-left corner of the Monitoring page. You can also specify a custom time period.

    • Outbound Bandwidth by Region: the usage of the cross-region bandwidth. Unit: bit/s. This is the default unit.
This metric consists of two items. For example, if Region A and Region B communicate with each other, the system displays the following information:
      • The bandwidth usage from Region A to Region B.
      • The bandwidth usage from Region B to Region A.

You can select Kbit/s, Mbit/s, or Gbit/s from the drop-down list next to a monitored item.

    • Percentage of Outbound Bandwidth: the percentage of the used bandwidth resources to the total bandwidth resources.
This metric consists of two items. For example, if Region A and Region B communicate with each other, the system displays the following information:
      • The percentage of A-to-B bandwidth resources to the total bandwidth resources.
      • The percentage of A-to-B bandwidth resources to the total bandwidth resources.
    • Latency: the network latency between the regions. Unit: milliseconds.
    • Packet Loss Rate: The rate of packets dropped due to bandwidth throttling. Unit: packets per second (PPS).
This metric consists of two items. For example, if Region A and Region B communicate with each other, the system displays the following information:
      • The rate of packets dropped from Region A to Region B due to bandwidth throttling.
      • The rate of packets dropped from Region B to Region A due to bandwidth throttling.
Note You can also view monitoring information about cross-region connections on the Charts tab. For more information, see View monitoring information about cross-region connections.

Create threshold-based alert rules for a cross-region connection

  5. On the Cross-region Connections tab, find the cross-region connection and click Set Alarm in the Monitor column.
  6. On the Alert Rules page, click Create Alert Rule.
  7. On the Create Alert Rule page, select CEN-Region for Product, set other parameters as needed, and then click OK.
You can set packet loss rate, outbound bandwidth, and percentage of outbound bandwidth as alert rules. For more information, see Create a threshold-triggered alert rule.
