After Cloud Enterprise Network (CEN) is activated, you are charged for connections, data forwarding, and bandwidth plans based on the transit router edition, network instance type, and region. This topic describes the billing rules of CEN.
Billing rules
Resource | Scenario | Billable item | Billing rule | Billing method | Billing cycle | |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Enterprise Edition transit routers | An Enterprise Edition transit router is connected to a virtual private cloud (VPC) or virtual border router (VBR). | Connections | You are charged based on the total number of VPCs and VBRs that are connected to the Enterprise Edition transit router. | Pay-as-you-go | 1 Hour
If the duration of use is less than 1 hour, it is rounded up to 1 hour. |
|
Data forwarding | You are charged for data transfer from the VPC or VBR to the Enterprise Edition transit
router.
Data transfer from the Enterprise Edition transit router to the VPC or VBR is free of charge. |
Pay-as-you-go | ||||
Bandwidth plans | Bandwidth plans can be used to establish inter-region network communication.
To allow network instances in different regions to communicate with each other, you must purchase a bandwidth plan and create inter-region connections. |
Bandwidth plans | Each bandwidth plan is billed based on the bandwidth value. | Subscription | One month |
Billing examples
The following example shows the billing rules of CEN.

A company uses CEN to establish network communication between the following network instances. After network communication is established, the following types of fee are charged:
- A:
- A connection fee for connecting the Enterprise Edition transit router in the China (Shenzhen) region to the VPC in the China (Shenzhen) region.
- A data forwarding fee for transmitting data from the VPC in the China (Shenzhen) region to the Enterprise Edition transit router in the China (Shenzhen) region.
- B:
- A connection fee for connecting the Enterprise Edition transit router in the China (Hangzhou) region to the VPC in the China (Hangzhou) region.
- A data forwarding fee for transmitting data from the VPC in the China (Hangzhou) region to the Enterprise Edition transit router in the China (Hangzhou) region.
- C:
- A connection fee for connecting the Enterprise Edition transit router in the China (Hangzhou) region to the VPC in the China (Hangzhou) region.
- A data forwarding fee for transmitting data from the VBR in the China (Hangzhou) region to the Enterprise Edition transit router in the China (Hangzhou) region.
- D:
Fees of bandwidth plans that connect the network instances across regions.
To enable network instances to communicate with each other across regions, the company must purchase a bandwidth plan that enables network communication inside the Chinese mainland. Then, the company must also establish inter-region connections between China (Hangzhou) and China (Qingdao), between China (Hangzhou) and China (Shenzhen), and between China (Qingdao) and China (Shenzhen). For more information, see Work with bandwidth plans and Manage inter-region connections.

Pricing of bandwidth plans
The following table describes the prices of subscription bandwidth plans that you can purchase for inter-region network communication inside the Chinese mainland. For more information about the prices of subscription bandwidth plans that you can purchase for other areas, refer to the buy page in the console.Areas to be connected | Bandwidth (Mbit/s) | Unit price |
---|---|---|
Within Chinese mainland | 0 to 100 (including 100) | USD 34/month for every Mbit/s |

Expiration and overdue payments
Expiration of bandwidth plans
- A bandwidth plan continues providing services within 15 days after the bandwidth plan expires. We recommend that you renew the bandwidth plan at the earliest opportunity.
- 15 days after a bandwidth plan expires, services are suspended. Data forwarding is
disabled.
During the suspension period of a bandwidth plan, the system retains the settings related to the bandwidth plan. You can renew the bandwidth plan within 15 days after it is suspended. After you renew the bandwidth plan, services are restored.
- If you do not renew a bandwidth plan within 15 days after it is suspended, the bandwidth
plan is automatically released.
You are notified by text message and email one day before the system releases your bandwidth plan. After the bandwidth plan is released, the settings and data related to the bandwidth are deleted and cannot be restored.
Overdue payments of transit routers
If a payment becomes overdue within your Alibaba Cloud account, transit routers are disabled. We recommend that you top up the account balance at the earliest opportunity.
If you top up your account balance when a transit router is disabled, the system automatically completes overdue payments and then enables the transit router.
Refunds
If you no longer use a bandwidth plan, you can request a refund for the bandwidth plan. To request a refund, submit a ticket.
