A disaster recovery site pair is used to configure the following information for the production site and the disaster recovery site: region, virtual private cloud (VPC), zone, and the type of replication technology used for disaster recovery. Before you perform disaster recovery, you must create a disaster recovery site pair for centralized management of resources at the disaster recovery site. This topic describes how to create a disaster recovery site pair.
Prerequisites
The VPC, vSwitches, and security group rules for the disaster recovery site are created. For more information, see Create a VPC with an IPv4 CIDR block, Create a vSwitch, and Create a security group.
Procedure
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
If you are not using EBS Async Replication, click Switch to EBS Async Replication.
On the Site Pairs tab, click Create Site Pair.
In the Create Site Pair panel, configure the parameters and click OK. The following table describes the parameters.
Parameter type
Parameter
Description
Disaster recovery type
Type
The disaster recovery type. In this scenario, select Cross-region Disaster Recovery.
Cross-zone Disaster Recovery: asynchronously replicates data from one zone to another zone in the primary region.
Cross-region Disaster Recovery: asynchronously replicates data from a primary region to a disaster recovery region.
Replication technology
Replication Technology
The type of technology used to replicate data for disaster recovery. In this scenario, select Async Replication.
This replication technology is implemented at the virtualization layer without the need to install an agent on the protected instances. This option applies to disaster recovery that ensures the consistency of virtual machine (VM) groups. The target customers are those who can accept a recovery point objective (RPO) of a few minutes and do not expect intrusions into the system.
Information of the production site and disaster recovery site
Name
The name of the production site or the disaster recovery site. The name cannot exceed 60 characters in length. A recognizable name is required. Operations such as the deployment of a disaster recovery gateway must be performed after the disaster recovery site pair is created.
The production site is used to specify the location of the Elastic Compute Service (ECS) instance that requires disaster recovery on the cloud.
The compute and storage resources that are used by the disaster recovery site are created in the specified VPC and zone.
Region
The region where the production site or the disaster recovery site resides. Disaster recovery data is stored in the region.
VPC
The VPC used by the production site or the disaster recovery site.
Zone
The zone where the production site or the disaster recovery site resides.
After the disaster recovery site pair is created, it is displayed on the Site Pairs tab.
If the disaster recovery site pair is incorrectly configured, you can click Delete in the Actions column of the site pair to delete the site pair and then create a site pair again.
