Cloud Backup:Configure an alert rule for Tablestore backup

After you configure an alert rule for Tablestore backup, Cloud Backup sends an alert notification email to the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account if a backup job fails. You can also configure custom alert notification methods and specify alert contacts or alert contact groups.

Note

Alert contacts receive an alert notification if a backup job fails.

Step 1: Configure an alert contact

An alert contact is the recipient of backup alerts. To create an alert contact, perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Notification Contacts.

  3. On the Contacts tab of the Notification Contacts page, click Create Contact.

  4. In the Create Contact panel, configure the Contact Name parameter.

  5. Select Notification Methods as Email. Click OK.

    After you select Email, enter an email address in the Email field and click Send. Log on to the specified email address and copy the verification code. Then, paste the verification code in the Verification Code field in the Cloud Backup console.

    Note
    • On the Contacts tab, you can view the information about all created alert contacts and the details of each contact.

    • You can click Edit in the Actions column to modify the email address of an alert contact.

    • You cannot delete an alert contact if the alert contact is specified to receive alert notifications or added to an alert contact group.

Step 2: (Optional) Configure an alert contact group

You can create an alert contact group and add multiple alert contacts to the group. Then, you can enable the group to receive the same alert notifications. This simplifies the procedure to manage the alert contacts. When an alert is triggered, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications to all alert contacts in the group.

  1. Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Notification Contacts.

  3. On the Groups tab of the Notification Contacts page, click Create Group.

  4. In the Create Group panel, configure the Group Name parameter.

  5. Select the alert contacts that you want to add to the group and click the rightwards arrow. Then, the selected alert contacts are added to the Selected Contacts section.

  6. Click OK.

    Note
    • On the Groups tab, you can view all alert contact groups and the number of alert contacts in each group.

    • You can click Edit in the Actions column to modify an alert contact group.

    • You cannot delete an alert contact group if the group is specified to receive alert notifications.

Step 3: Configure a custom alert rule

Important

By default, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications to the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account by using emails. If you configure custom alert rules, an alert rule configured for Tablestore backup takes precedence over an alert rule configured for a backup vault.

You can create the following types of alert rules:

Configure an alert rule for a backup vault

A vault-level alert rule applies to all the Tablestore instances that are associated with the backup vault. Perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Storage Vaults.

  3. On the Storage Vaults page, find the backup vault for which you want to configure an alert rule and choose More > Alert Settings in the Actions column.

  4. In the Alert Notification Method panel, select an alert notification method. Click OK.

    If you select this option, Cloud Backup does not send alert notifications for all the Tablestore instances that are associated with the backup vault.

    Notify Alibaba Cloud Account

    If you select this option, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications for all the Tablestore instances associated with the backup vault to the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account by using emails.

    Custom

    If you select this option, you must select one or more alert contacts or alert contact groups. Then, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications to the selected contacts or contact groups for all the Tablestore instances associated with the backup vault.

Configure an alert rule for a Tablestore instance

You can configure an alert rule specifically for a Tablestore instance. After you configure an alert rule specifically for a Tablestore instance, the Tablestore instance no longer uses the alert notification method configured for the backup vault or the default alert notification method. Perform the following steps:

  1. Log on to the Cloud Backup console.

  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Back Up > Tablestore Backup.

  3. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  4. On the Tablestore Backup page, find the Tablestore instance for which you want to configure an alert rule and click image on the left. On the Backup Plans tab, find the backup plan and choose More > Alert Settings in the Actions column.

  5. In the Alert Notification Method panel, select an alert notification method. Click OK.

    If you select this option, Cloud Backup does not send alert notifications.

    Same as Backup Vault

    If you select this option, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications for the Tablestore instance by using the same method configured for the backup vault.

    Notify Alibaba Cloud Account

    If you select this option, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications for the Tablestore instance to the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account by using emails.

    Limited

    If you select this option, you must select one or more alert contacts or alert contact groups. Then, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications to the selected contacts or contact groups for the Tablestore instance.
