By default, if Tablestore backup fails, Cloud Backup sends an email notification to the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account. To send alert notifications to a Resource Access Management (RAM) user, you can configure custom alert notification methods and specify alert contacts or alert contact groups. This topic describes how to configure a custom alert rule for Tablestore backup.
If Tablestore backup fails, the specified alert contacts or alert contact groups receive an alert notification.
Step 1: Configure an alert contact
An alert contact is the recipient of backup alerts. To create an alert contact, perform the following steps:
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Notification Contacts.
On the Contacts tab of the Notification Contacts page, click Create Contact.
In the Create Contact panel, configure the Contact Name parameter.
Select Email as Notification Methods and click OK.
After you select Email, enter an email address in the Email field and click Send. Log on to the specified email address and copy the verification code. Then, paste the verification code in the Verification Code field in the Cloud Backup console.
NoteOn the Contacts tab, you can view the information about all created alert contacts and the details of each contact.
You can click Edit in the Actions column to modify the email address of an alert contact.
You cannot delete an alert contact if the alert contact is specified to receive alert notifications or added to an alert contact group.
Step 2: (Optional) Configure an alert contact group
You can create an alert contact group and add multiple alert contacts to the group. Then, you can enable the group to receive the same alert notifications. This simplifies the procedure to manage the alert contacts. When an alert is triggered, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications to all alert contacts in the group.
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Notification Contacts.
On the Groups tab of the Notification Contacts page, click Create Group.
In the Create Group panel, configure the Group Name parameter.
Select the alert contacts that you want to add to the group and click the rightwards arrow. Then, the selected alert contacts are added to the Selected Contacts section.
Click OK.
NoteOn the Groups tab, you can view all alert contact groups and the number of alert contacts in each group.
You can click Edit in the Actions column to modify an alert contact group.
You cannot delete an alert contact group if the group is specified to receive alert notifications.
Step 3: Configure a custom alert rule
By default, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications to the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account by using emails. After you configure a custom alert rule, Cloud Backup uses the custom alert notification method instead of the default alert notification method for Tablestore backup.
You can use the following methods to configure a custom alert rule for Tablestore backup.
Configure an alert rule for a backup vault
An alert rule for a backup vault applies to all the Tablestore instances in the backup vault. If you do not configure an independent alert rule for a Tablestore instance, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications by using the same method configured for the backup vault. To configure an alert rule for a backup vault, perform the following steps:
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, click Storage Vaults.
On the Storage Vaults page, find the backup vault for which you want to configure an alert rule and choose in the Actions column.
In the Alert Notification Method panel, set Alert Notification Method and click OK.

If you select this option, Cloud Backup does not send alert notifications for all Tablestore instances in the vault.
Notify Alibaba Cloud Account
If you select this option, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications for all Tablestore instances in the vault to the owner of the Alibaba Cloud account by using emails.
Custom
If you select this option, you must select one or more alert contacts or alert contact groups. Then, Cloud Backup sends alert notifications for all Tablestore instances in the vault to the selected alert contacts or alert contact groups.
Configure an alert rule for a Tablestore instance
After you configure an independent alert rule for a Tablestore instance, the alert rule takes precedence over the alert rule configured for the related backup vault. To configure an alert rule for a Tablestore instance, perform the following steps:
Log on to the Cloud Backup console.
In the left-side navigation pane, choose .
In the top navigation bar, select a region.
On the Tablestore Backup page, find the Tablestore instance and click
on the left. On the Backup Plans tab, find the backup plan and choose in the Actions column.In the Alert Notification Method panel, set Alert Notification Method and click OK.
