This topic provides answers to frequently asked questions about WhatsApp channels. 

Why is the register button on the WABA registration page gray and unclickable?

To ensure that you can complete registration, Chat App automatically checks your network connectivity to Meta. If the register button is gray, your network connection to Meta is unavailable. Log on to the official Meta website to check if you can open the page.

Why can't I complete Meta enterprise verification when creating a WABA?

The Embedded Signup process does not include the Meta business verification flow. You must log on to the official Facebook website to complete enterprise verification.

Can I edit a WhatsApp message template after it is approved?

According to the rules of WhatsApp, you can modify an approved message template up to 10 times in 30 consecutive days (or once every 24 hours). The number of times that you can modify a rejected or paused message template is not limited.

Important

After you modify an approved template, you must submit the template for review again. Before the template is approved, it cannot be used to send messages. After the template is submitted for review, the ongoing message sending tasks fail.

Can I delete a WhatsApp message template?

If you no longer use a WhatsApp message template, delete it in the Chat App Message Service console.

Important

According to the rules of WhatsApp, you cannot create a template with the same name as the deleted template within 30 days after it is deleted.

How do I add an international phone number on WhatsApp?

  1. Open contacts on your phone.

  2. When you add an international phone number, enter the plus sign (+) first.

  3. Enter the country/region code. Then, enter the complete phone number.

    Note

    The country/region code is a numeric prefix that must be entered before the international phone number to make a call to the corresponding country/region.

    For example, suppose that the contact is in the United States. The country code is 1, and the area code is 408. You must enter +1 408 XXX XXXX.

Note:

  • Remove the leading zero or any special calling codes from the phone number.

  • For phone numbers in Argentina (country code: 54), add a "9" between the country code and the area code, and remove the phone number prefix "15". What you enter must be a 13-digit phone number in the following format: +54 9 XXX XXX XXXX

  • For phone numbers (including Nextel numbers) in Mexico (country code: 52), add a "1" after "+52".

What are the rules or restrictions for businesses sending messages from a WhatsApp business number?

The following rules and restrictions apply when sending messages from a WhatsApp business number:

  1. Send messages only to users who have subscribed to receive them to avoid being reported or receiving complaints.

  2. Ensure that your message content complies with the WhatsApp Business Terms of Service.

  3. Businesses must use a message template approved by WhatsApp to initiate a conversation. Outside the customer service window, only approved message templates can be sent. A 24-hour customer service window opens when a user initiates contact or replies to a message template. During this window, businesses can reply with interactive or free-form messages, or send approved message templates.

  4. The number of marketing messages a user can receive over a period of time is dynamic. This number depends on the user's recent interactions with marketing messages, and whether they have opted out of promotions in the WhatsApp app.

  5. Starting April 1, 2025, Meta will suspend sending marketing messages to WhatsApp users with U.S. phone numbers.
