Limits on Facebook Page names

A Facebook Page name must accurately identify the page. Only authorized representatives can manage a Facebook Page for a brand, place, organization, or public figure.

Names cannot include:

  • Terms or phrases that are abusive or violate the rights of others.

  • The word "official", unless the page is the official page of a brand, place, organization, or public figure.

  • Improper capitalization. Names must use grammatically correct capitalization and cannot be all capital letters, except for acronyms.

  • Symbols or unnecessary punctuation.

  • Descriptions or slogans, such as "The Best Cafe - We serve the best coffee in town." Add this type of information to the About section of the page instead.

Names cannot consist only of:

  • A single generic word, such as "Pizza." Avoid names that are too broad.

  • General geographic locations, such as "New York."
