Bastionhost can send notifications by text message, email, or internal message to inform administrators and O&M engineers of important service events. You can customize which events trigger notifications and who receives them. This topic describes how to configure these notifications.
Log on to the Bastionhost console. In the top navigation bar, select the region where your Bastionhost instance is located.
In the list of Bastionhost instances, find the target instance and click Manage.
In the navigation pane on the left, click System Settings > Notifications.
On the Notifications page, add alert administrators, configure the language for text message and email notifications, and set notification methods.
Add an alert administrator
In the Alert Administrator Settings section, click Add Alert Administrator. In the Add Recipient panel, select a user and click OK.
Configure the language for text message and email notifications
In the Text Message/Email Notification Sending Language Settings section, configure the notification language and click Save.
Language Used by Alibaba Cloud Management Console: Sends notifications based on the site version: Chinese for the China site and English for the international site.
Custom Language: Send all notifications in a single language. You can choose either Chinese or English.
Set notification methods
In the Notification section, set the notification methods for different notification types.
NoteNotification options are disabled by default. You can enable them by selecting the checkboxes for text message, email, and internal message.

Command Alert Notification
Sent when a user's O&M operation triggers a control policy, such as command approval or command blocking.
Storage Capacity Notification
Sent when storage capacity is nearly full (reaches 85% utilization).
NoteIf the remaining storage capacity does not increase, a notification is sent only once.
Notifications of Automatic Tasks
Sent after an automatic password change task completes.
NoteAfter you create an automatic password change task in Bastionhost, the task runs periodically or on a schedule based on the configured password policy. This feature helps you meet compliance requirements and avoid errors that can occur when you manually rotate host account passwords. To learn how to set up an automatic password change task, see Password change tasks.
O&M Report Notification
Sent every Monday between 10:00 and 11:00 with the O&M report from the previous week.
Overload Protection Notification
Sent when resource consumption reaches a bottleneck, and again when it returns to normal.
Shared Key Change Notification
Sent before a shared key expires, if an administrator configured an expiration reminder.
NoteAn expired shared key does not affect your services. You can reconfigure it as needed.
After you create a shared key in Bastionhost and associate it with multiple host accounts, the shared key is prioritized for logon during O&M. This improves the efficiency of managing host accounts. To learn how to set up a shared key, see Shared keys.
Alert Notification of Network Domain Proxy
Sent when the network domain proxy service is experiencing issues.
NoteAfter you create a network domain and add a proxy server by using a proxy connection, Bastionhost checks the connectivity of the proxy server every five minutes. For more information, see Network domains.
O&M Approval Notification
Sent to designated approvers when an O&M engineer submits a request. The applicant is notified of the approval result.
Notification for End of User Validity Period
Sent to a user a specified number of days before their account expires. The value can be set from 1 to 7. The default is 1.
Notifications are supported for non-RAM users only, and are sent only by text message and email. These notifications are not restricted by the recipient configurations for text messages or emails.
Notification for User Password Expiration
Sent to a user a specified number of days before their password expires. The value can be set from 1 to 4. The default is 1.
Only Bastionhost local users can be notified. This notification is not limited by the configurations for text message or email recipients.
Authentication Server Status Alerts
Sent when an AD/LDAP authentication server connection is abnormal.
NoteBastionhost checks the connectivity of authentication servers every ten minutes. Only one notification is sent before connectivity is restored.
Only email and internal message notifications are supported.
Click Save.
You can click the
icon in the upper-right corner of the page to view internal messages in the Message Center. If you select the Text Message or Email checkboxes, Bastionhost sends text messages and emails to the recipients specified in the Alert Administrator Settings.NoteYou can add a maximum of 10 recipients in the Alert Administrator Settings.
