This topic describes the cluster configurations of Managed Service for OpenTelemetry. On the Cluster Configurations tab, you can perform operations such as enabling or disabling the data collection feature and viewing the storage duration.
Data collection configurations
Collect data
You can enable or disable data collection of Managed Service for OpenTelemetry. After you enable or disable the data collection feature on the Cluster Configuration tab, the collection and report of all data in the selected region are affected. You can set the Capture Data parameter to one of the following values:
Enable All: receives data of all applications that is reported in the region.
Disable All: rejects data of all applications that is reported in the region. In this case, you are not charged for data collection.
Enable by Default: specifies whether to enable the data collection feature for the specified applications based on the data collection configurations of the applications. If the data collection feature is not configured for the applications, the data collection feature is enabled for the applications by default after you set the Data Ingestion parameter to Enable by Default.
Disable by Default: specifies whether to enable the data collection feature for the specified applications based on the data collection configurations of the applications. If the data collection feature is not configured for the applications, the data collection feature is disabled for the applications by default after you set the Data Ingestion parameter to Disable by Default.

Aggregate metrics based on traces
By default, Managed Service for OpenTelemetry aggregates and calculates the application service metrics based on the trace data. The calculations are used to display statistics on dashboards, configure alerting, and perform custom queries. If you need only traces, you can disable this feature on the Cluster Configurations tab. You can set the Metrics Aggregation by Traces parameter to one of the following values:
Enable: aggregates and calculates service metrics based on traces. The trace data reported after the point in time when you enable the feature is used for calculations. The trace data reported before the point in time when you enable the feature is not used.
Disable: does not aggregate and calculate service metrics based on the reported trace data but retains the data reported from the client side. After you disable this feature, you can query only trace data by using the trace analysis feature. Other panel data is displayed based on aggregated metrics. Therefore, the panel data is unavailable.
NoteThe metric data that is actively reported by the client side is retained. If you need only trace data, make sure that the client side reports only traces.

Storage duration configurations
You can view the storage duration of data on the Cluster Configurations tab. You are charged for using the data collection feature of Managed Service for OpenTelemetry based on the amount of observable data that is written instead of the storage duration. The trace storage duration is 30 days and the metric storage duration is 90 days. You cannot modify the storage duration settings.
