Application Monitoring Basic Edition uses pay-as-you-go billing. You are charged based on your resource usage. Bills are generated daily and fees are deducted from your Alibaba Cloud account balance.
The Basic Edition is no longer available for activation, and beginning March 31, 2024, technical support is no longer provided for it. For more information, see [Billing changes] Discontinuation of Application Monitoring Basic Edition and Browser Monitoring Basic Edition activation.

Billable items
The only billable item in Application Monitoring Basic Edition is traces, measured in spans.
Configure sampling rules to control the volume of trace data collected. For details, see Customize application settings.
To change the storage duration, go to the Application Real-Time Monitoring Service (ARMS) console. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Application Monitoring > Global Configurations. On the Storage Period Settings tab, change the storage duration.
How traces are counted
Each span represents a single request. A trace groups one or more spans that share the same trace ID.

Pricing in Alibaba Cloud public cloud
Free quota
Application Monitoring Basic Edition provides a free quota for trace data.
For each API request sent from your Alibaba Cloud account, each agent samples the first trace and stores it free of charge for one day.

Billing cycle
The ARMS billing cycle is one day. ARMS calculates the resource consumption of the previous day, starting at 00:00 on the current day. Bills are typically generated before 08:00 on the settlement day. After a bill is generated, the system automatically deducts the amount from your account balance if the balance is sufficient. You can view your bills on the Expenses and Costs page and check your resource consumption in the ARMS console. For more information, see Resource usage and bills.
Bill generation may be delayed. The actual time a bill is generated may vary.
