This topic describes how to transcode a media file in the ApsaraVideo Media Processing (MPS) console.

Prerequisites

The video files to be transcoded is uploaded to an Object Storage Service (OSS) bucket. For more information, see Upload a video.

Procedure

Getting Started - Transcoding
  1. Log on to the MPS console. In the top navigation bar, select a region.
  2. Activate an MPS queue.

    In the left-side navigation pane, choose Global Settings > Pipelines. Find the MPS queue that you want to activate and click Activate in the Actions column. For more information, see Activate or pause an MPS queue. You can click Set Notifications in the Actions column to turn on notifications. This way, you can receive messages about the task results.

  3. Optional. Create a transcoding template.

    If the preset templates cannot meet your business requirements, you can create a custom transcoding template. For more information, see Transcoding templates.

  4. Create a transcoding task.
    In the left-side navigation pane, click Tasks. On the Encode tab of the Tasks page. Click Create Task and configure the parameters. For more information, see Create a transcoding job.
    Note In this example, a transcoding task is created. You can also create other types of tasks by following the same procedure. For more information, see Create a video moderation job, and Create a media fingerprinting job.
  5. View the transcoding result.

    In the left-side navigation pane, click Tasks. On the Encode tab of the Tasks page, you can view the transcoding result and details of the task.
