This topic describes the billing methods of ApsaraDB for HBase.
ApsaraDB for HBase supports the subscription and pay-as-you-go billing methods.

| Subscription | The subscription billing method allows you to pay in advance for the use of resources. You can complete the payment when you purchase a cluster. The subscription billing method is more cost-effective than the pay-as-you-go billing method for long-term use. You are offered lower prices for longer subscription periods. Important The billing method of an instance cannot be changed from subscription to pay-as-you-go. |
| Pay-as-you-go | The pay-as-you-go billing method allows you to use resources first and pay for them afterward. The system generates a bill per hour and deducts the fee from the balance of your Alibaba Cloud account based on the cluster specifications. This billing method is cost-effective for business scenarios that require access to resources for short periods of time, such as testing. You can release a pay-as-you-go instance as needed to reduce costs. When you can accurately estimate the amount of resources that you need each month or each year, you can change the billing method from pay-as-you-go to subscription.
