If you need to create a Grafana user for multiple customers or O&M personnel, it is tedious to directly create a new user and then inform the account of the password. If you use the SMTP email invitation method, you only need to obtain the email address of the invited person. The invited person can create a Grafana user by using the invitation email sent by Grafana. This topic describes how to use an SMTP email address to invite users to a specified Grafana organization.

Step 1: Enable the SMTP service for an email address

Note The email address is used to send Grafana invitation emails.
  1. In the top navigation bar of NetEase, choose Settings > POP3/SMTP/IMAP.
  2. Enable the POP3/SMTP service in the POP3/SMTP/IMAP section.
    Notice During the opening process, you must complete the account security verification as prompted and save the returned authorization password.
  3. After the SMTP service is enabled, obtain the SMTP server address in the Tip section.
    Note You can also obtain the SMTP server address and port number of the NetEase mailbox through the NetEase Email Documentation.

Step 2: Configure Grafana organization parameters

  1. Log on to the ARMS console.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Grafana > Workspaces.
  3. On the Workspaces page, find the workspace that you want to manage, and click the workspace ID or click Manage in the Actions column.
  4. In the left-side navigation pane, click Parameters.
  5. On the Parameter Settings page, click Modify Parameter and select a smtp.
  6. Modify the parameters of the following smtp types, and then click Save and Effective.
    • enabled: Set this parameter to true.
    • host :SMTP server address smtp. 163.com:465.
      Note The SMTP server address and port number here take NetEase email as an example. Replace them with the SMTP server address and port number that you actually use.
    • user: the address of the email address.
    • password: the authorization password obtained in Step 1.
    • from_address: the address of the email address.
    • from_name: No setting is required.

Step 3: Invite new users on the Grafana configuration page

  1. In the left-side navigation pane, click Workspace Information. In the Connection Information section, click Log On in the Actions column to go to Grafana.
    Note To log on to Grafana, you can use the Admin account of Grafana and the password that you specified when you created the workspace. Alternatively, you can click Sign in with Alibaba Cloud to log on to Grafana by using the Alibaba Cloud account that you used to purchase the workspace.
  2. Optional:Click the portrait in the lower-left corner of the Grafana page, and then click Switch. On the Switch Organization page, switch the target organization.
  3. In the left-side navigation pane of Grafana, choose Live stream settings > Users.
  4. On the Users tab, click Invite.
  5. On the Invite User page, enter the email address of the invited user in the Email or Username field, set the role of the invited user, and then click Submit.

  6. Invited users click Accept Invitation in the received email and then go to the Grafana page according to the redirect link.
