Billing methods
AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL supports two billing methods:
Pay-as-you-go: You are billed hourly for the resources that you use. This method is suitable for short-term needs. To save costs, release instances immediately after use.
Subscription: You pay upfront when you create an instance. This method is suitable for long-term needs and is more cost-effective than pay-as-you-go.
Elastic Storage Mode
Elastic Storage Mode is an edition of AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL that launched commercially in 2020. It uses a dedicated architecture that tightly integrates storage and computing, supports elastic scaling, and offers a wide range of specifications. It is available in two instance series: High-availability and High-performance (Basic Edition). These series differ in compute specifications and the number of storage replicas. Fees for Elastic Storage Mode consist of four components: Master resource fees, computing resource fees, storage resource fees, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) Service fees.
Master resources
In AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, Master nodes accept business requests, optimize queries, distribute tasks, manage metadata, and handle transaction management. The Master nodes of AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL are measured in Master Compute Units (Master CUs), and multiple specifications are available.
Before January 1, 2024, Master resources were free of charge.
Starting January 1, 2024, Master resources with specifications of 8 CU or less remain free. Master resources with specifications of 16 CU or higher are billable.
The prices of Master resources are subject to the prices on the buy page and in your bill.
Computing resources
The prices of computing resources are subject to the prices on the buy page and in your bill.
Storage resources
Elastic Storage Mode for AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL provides two disk storage classes:
Enterprise SSD (ESSD) (Recommended): Suitable for the High-availability and High-performance (Basic Edition) series.
Ultra disk: Suitable for the High-availability series.
The High-availability series uses a dual-replica architecture. Therefore, the ESSD price per GB is twice that of the High-performance (Basic Edition).
The High-performance (Basic Edition) uses a single-replica architecture. Its underlying storage medium achieves high reliability through a triplicate mechanism.
You can no longer purchase new instances that use ultra disks. Existing instances are unaffected.
The prices of different disk storage classes vary. The actual price is subject to the price on the buy page and in your bill.
For pay-as-you-go Elastic Storage Mode instances of AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL, the Configuration Fee on the buy page includes the disk storage fee for only one compute node. The actual disk storage fee is charged based on the total number of compute nodes in the instance.
RAG Service
The RAG Service for AnalyticDB for PostgreSQL is an innovative AI service that combines retrieval and generation technologies to deliver a precise, flexible, and high-quality end-to-end RAG experience. It scales in seconds, enabling flexible adjustment of computing resources based on business needs. It also provides hardware cache acceleration. Fees for Serverless instances consist of three components: Master resource fees, computing resource fees, and storage resource fees.
