Background information: Alibaba Cloud CDN stopped taking the requests for free certificates on January 6, 2022. New users cannot apply for free certificates any more. However, existing free certificates are automatically renewed.
Changes: Due to the recent rule changes by the certificate authorities (CAs), we have seen a continuous decrease in the success rate of the automatic renewal of free certificates. Therefore, Alibaba Cloud CDN has decided to terminate automatic renewal of existing free certificates at 00:00 on April 15, 2023. If your domain names are still using the free certificates provided by Alibaba Cloud CDN, you need to modify the certificate settings before the certificates expire and upload your own certificates. For more information, see Configure an SSL certificate.
How do I check whether a domain name uses a free certificate?
- Log on to the Alibaba Cloud CDN console.
- In the left-side navigation pane, click Domain Names.
- On the Domain Names page, find the domain name that you want to manage and click Manage.
- In the left-side navigation pane of the specified domain, click HTTPS Settings.
- On the page that appears, view the certificate source.
If the value of Certificate Source is Free Certificate, the certificate is a free certificate obtained by using the Alibaba Cloud CDN console.
Solution
You can apply for a certificate from another SSL certificate authority, download the certificate, and manually configure the SSL certificate for the domain name that is accelerated by Alibaba Cloud CDN. For more information, see Configure an SSL certificate.
