What is alicloud-monitor-controller - Container Service for Kubernetes

alicloud-monitor-controller is a system component provided by ACK that integrates with Alibaba Cloud observability services, such as Managed Service for Prometheus, Simple Log Service (SLS), and CloudMonitor. This component synchronizes observability configurations, such as alert rules, and manages their lifecycle. This topic describes the alicloud-monitor-controller component, its usage notes, and release notes.

Introduction

alicloud-monitor-controller synchronizes observability feature configurations with various Alibaba Cloud observability services. It provides the following features:

Configuration management for alerts: Provides the Alert management for Container Service feature of ACK and supports flexible configuration of alert information.
Rule synchronization: Synchronizes default alert configurations in the cluster and alert rules defined in AckAlertRule Custom Resources (CRs) with Alibaba Cloud observability services, such as Managed Service for Prometheus, Simple Log Service (SLS), and CloudMonitor.
Lifecycle management: Provides complete lifecycle management for alert configurations.

When you navigate to the Alert Configuration page, the system prompts you to upgrade alicloud-monitor-controller to the latest version to synchronize new configurations.

Diagnostics

No Application Group Is Found In CloudMonitor

Perform the following prechecks:

Check whether the alicloud-monitor-controller pod in the kube-system namespace is running correctly.
Check the component version. If it is not the latest version, upgrade the component.
Check the component logs for errors, such as network timeouts or SDK call failures.

If the issue persists after you perform the preceding checks, use the following ticket template to submit a ticket.

Is the component updated to the latest version?
Yes, it is.
Did you check the component logs for errors, such as SDK call throttling, and restart the pod?
No errors were found. The issue persists after the pod was restarted.
Attach the complete alicloud-monitor-controller logs to the ticket.
The compressed package of the detailed logs is attached.

No Data Is Found In The Application Group In CloudMonitor

Perform the following prechecks.

Check whether the instance names in the application group correspond to the pod names of the application:

If the instance names are abnormal, perform the checks described in the "No Application Group Is Found In CloudMonitor" section.
If the instance names are normal, check whether the metrics-server component pod in the kube-system namespace is running correctly and generating logs consistently. A log entry that contains Successful write 164190 bytes metrics to monitor server indicates that logs are being generated consistently.

If the issue persists after you perform the preceding checks, use the following ticket template to submit a ticket.

Yes.
Can the metrics-server component in the kube-system namespace correctly output logs?
