    Account Center:Verify your identity - Individual account

    To purchase or use cloud products and services deployed in the Chinese mainland in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, complete identity verification for your Alibaba Cloud account. This guide explains the identity verification process for an individual account. The verified individual owns the account.

    Overview

    The individual identity verification process consists of two steps: submitting your information and a manual review. The manual review typically takes about three business days. You will receive the result by email.

    Once verified, the account type (individual or enterprise) cannot be changed. Before you start, confirm if you should verify as an enterprise. For a detailed comparison, see Identity verification overview.

    Before you begin

    First, make sure that your Account Type is Personal. Prepare a valid government-issued ID from the same Country/Region as your account. You will need a clear, complete, color scanned copy or digital photo of the ID.

    You can view your Account Type and Country/Region in the Basic Information section of the Account Center. For instructions, see Modify basic account information.

    Alibaba Cloud accepts the following types of personal documents:

    • Passport

    • Driver's License

    Note

    This guide applies to individual users of the Alibaba Cloud International Website (alibabacloud.com). If you only have a Chinese resident ID card, register and make purchases on the Alibaba Cloud China Website (aliyun.com).

    Tips for a successful submission

    Dos:

    • File format: JPG, JPEG, PNG, or PDF.

    • File size: You can upload up to two files, each no larger than 5 MB. The document must take up at least 40% of the image area.

    • Ensure the photo of your document is clear, with all four corners visible. The text must be legible, with no glare, reflections, or shadows. Upload a front-facing image; do not rotate it.

    • Before you submit, double-check all information to ensure it matches your document exactly.

    Don'ts:

    • Do not upload another person's document.

    • Do not alter or forge document information.

    • Do not submit an expired or invalid document.

    • Do not use screenshots, photocopies, or edited images.

    Submit verification information

    1. Log on to the Alibaba Cloud Account Center and navigate to the Identity Verification page. In the Verify Your Identity - Individual Account section, click Verify Now.

    2. Enter and submit the following required information:

    • Document Type: Select Passport or Driver's License.

    • Upload Document: Upload a clear, color copy of your passport or driver's license. For details, see Tips for a successful submission.

    • First Name: Enter your legal first name exactly as it appears on your document.

    • Last Name: Enter your legal last name exactly as it appears on your document. If you do not have a last name, re-enter your first name.

    • ID Number: Enter your passport or driver's license number.

    • Purchase cloud resources in Chinese mainland or use acceleration regions that include Chinese mainland: Select an option.

      • Yes: The system initiates a separate compliance review. The system displays the status of this review separately from your account verification status.

      • No: You do not plan to purchase resources in the Chinese mainland. After your identity is verified, you can still change this selection on the Identity Verification page.

    • Read and check the box to confirm that the information is true, accurate, and complete.

    • Click Verify to complete your application.

    Check verification status

    After submitting your information, your application enters the manual review stage. You can check your verification status at any time on the Identity Verification page:

    • Under Review: Your application has been successfully submitted and is in progress. The review typically takes about 3 business days.

    • Verification Successful: Your identity is verified. You can now purchase eligible products and services.

    • Failed: We could not approve your application. Please check the reason provided on the page, correct your information, and resubmit.

    Note

    1. If you do not receive feedback within 3 business days, check your email's spam folder. If you still cannot find a notification, contact technical support for assistance.

    2. If you have questions about a Failed verification or believe there was an error, please contact technical support for further assistance.

    FAQ

    How can I serve users in the Chinese mainland without completing identity verification?

    Choose the China (Hong Kong) region.

    This region is the recommended choice for this scenario because:

    • It does not require you to complete identity verification.

    • It provides low-latency network access for users located in the Chinese mainland.

    How do I enable purchasing of mainland China resources after my account is already verified?

    You can enable this option at any time from the Identity Verification page after your account has been successfully verified.

    1. Navigate to the Identity Verification page in the Account Center.

    2. Confirm that your account status is Verification Successful.

    3. Find the section titled Purchase cloud resources in the Chinese mainland or use acceleration regions that include it.

    4. Read and accept the terms, then click Confirm.

    After you confirm, the system will automatically start a separate compliance review required for using resources in the Chinese mainland.
