Time Series Database:Resize an instance or change the instance type

Last Updated:Apr 03, 2020

If the timeline quantity or disk storage space is insufficient in your Time Series Database (TSDB) instance, or the write efficiency does not meet your business requirements, you can change the instance type or resize the instance.

Procedure

  • Step 1: Log on to the TSDB console, find the target instance, click Specification Change in the Actions column to go to the Instance Reassignment and Expansion page.

  • Step 2: On the Instance Reassignment and Expansion page, select the desired instance type or the disk space, and confirm the information.

  • Step 3: Click Activate to make the payment and apply the configuration change.

Considerations

  • The instance configuration change process takes 5 to 10 minutes. During this process, some requests may fail. Make sure that your application has a retry mechanism to cope with exceptions.
  • A TSDB instance does not support disk shrink. The new storage space must be greater than the current storage space of the TSDB instance.
  • Currently, you can upgrade a TSDB instance from mlarge to 24xlarge. If you need to upgrade the instance to 48xlarge or 96xlarge, contact a customer service representative and submit a ticket.
  • A message “This instance spec is not supported yet.” may be displayed if the architecture of the selected instance type is incompatible with that of the current instance type. In this case, submit a ticket to upgrade the instance first.
