View cluster performance

Last Updated: Jul 30, 2021

The E-HPC optimizer is a performance monitoring and profiling platform. You can monitor cluster performance metrics, view cluster performance history, and profile performance hotspots. You can optimize cluster performance based on the performance dashboard and performance details generated by the E-HPC optimizer.

View the performance dashboard

  1. Log on to the E-HPC console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select a region.

  3. In the left-side navigation pane, choose Job and Performance Management > E-HPC Tune.

  4. On the ClusterView page, you can view the basic information and heatmap of clusters.

Each square in the heatmap represents a node. If you move the pointer over a node, its name and performance is shown.

  5. Optional. Click Setting. In the Dashboard Settings dialog box, set the parameters that you want to display, and click OK.

View node performance

  1. On the ClusterView page, select the cluster that you want to view. Click Node in the Operation column.

  2. In the Node List section, select the node that you want to view.

  3. You can also click Select to view the node performance of a specific job.

  4. To select a node performance duration, click and hold one side of the bar and then drag it in the other direction, or click Time Range.

  5. Click Metrics and select the metrics that you want to view.

  6. Select the dimension.

    • If you view node performance by node, each subgraph shows the performance data of one node, and each curve indicates the data of one metric.

    • If you view node performance by metric, each subgraph shows the performance data of one metric, and each curve indicates the data of one node.

View process performance

  1. On the ClusterView page, select the cluster that you want to view. Click Process in the Operation column.

  2. In the Node List section, select the node that you want to view.

  3. Optional. You can also click Select to view the node performance of a specific job.

  4. To select a process performance duration, click and hold one side of the bar and then drag it in the other direction, or click Time Range.

The graph shows the Top 5 processes that have the highest CPU utilization rates during the specified time period. To view the process details at a specific point in time, move the pointer over the graph.

Profile performance data

  1. On the ClusterView page, select the cluster that you want to view. Click Process in the Operation column.

  2. On the ProcView tab, select the process that you want to profile.

    Note

The Top 5 processes that have the highest CPU utilization rates are displayed in the graph.

    Profiler
  3. In the Profiling Settings dialog box, specify Duration and Frequency, and click OK.

  4. On the Profiler tab, select the profiling result that you want to view and click View.

The flame graph of performance profile is displayed on the Profiler tab. The flame graph visualizes CPU time spent in functions so that you can analyze hot functions.

    Performance profiling
  5. Optional. Click Download to download the profiling result.

You can optimize cluster performance based on the profiling result.

View reports

  1. On the ClusterView page, select the cluster that you want to view. Click Report in the Operation column.

  2. To view reports on the Report tab, click and hold one side of the bar and then drag it in the other direction, or click Time Range.

  3. Optional. Select the graph whose report you want to download, for example, Queues Usage. Click Download.
