Migration Consulting Service

1.       Service Scope

Party B’s services are listed as below:

  • Evaluate the feasibility of migrating Party A’s business system to Alibaba Cloud through surveys and analysis;
  • Based on Party B’s cloud platform, design the product selection and application architecture of Party A’s business system;
  • Based on Party B’s cloud platform and products, design the migration solutions for Party A’s application system, storage, and database;
  • Provide consulting, technical instructions, and solutions for the business system to be migrated to the cloud, but do not provide the development service for the application system or designs for transformation of specific applications or databases.

The following terms are not inluded in Party B’s services:

  • Application transformation, application design, and database logical structure design;
  • Migration of application systems not explicitly included “in the scope” of migration;
  • Migration of data not explicitly included “in the scope” of migration;
  • Design and construction of the cloud platform infrastructure and environment;
  • Communication infrastructure and components required for implementation;
  • Installation or configuration of electrical, electronic communication, and cabling infrastructures and components, and the provision of related support;
  • Installation or configuration of non-IT equipment and desktop equipment, such as office furniture, printers, air conditioners, UPSs, and tapes.

2.       Prerequisites

  • If this Project is implemented on the premises of Party A, upon start of the Project, Party A shall provide the necessary office facilities, including desks and chairs, restroom facilities, mains power supply and outlets, and network cables. Party A shall ensure the personal safety of Party B’s personnel. The office environment provided by Party A shall be free of harmful gases. Outdoor environments provided shall be protected against inclement weather;
  • All work records and documents of the Project shall be in Chinese, and shall be provided as required by Party A. The electronic files shall be submitted in Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft Project format;
  • During the Project, Party A and Party B shall communicate with each other in a manner agreed upon by both parties. Optional communication methods include Internet, fax, email, or written communication;
  • Both parties have signed the site arrival report for the on-site service, and confirmed the service start time and end time.

3.       Service Content

3.1 Business System Cloudification Infrastructure Design

Cloudification feasibility analysis: Party B shall obtain the current situation and expectations of Party A’s business system through surveys, interviews, and automated tools; evaluate the feasibility, costs, and technical difficulties of migrating Party A’s existing business system to the cloud; provide the candidate cloud product solutions and transformation suggestions based on the characteristics of Party A’s business system; and provide the overall feasibility analysis report for migrating Party A’s business system to the cloud.

Cloudification infrastructure design: Party B shall collect and evaluate the current situation and expectations of the infrastructure of Party A’s business system; analyze the capabilities such as the elastic computing and network architecture of the offline business system; design on-cloud elastic computing, network architecture, solutions for connecting traditional data centers to the cloud platform, and network security policies; and select appropriate cloud network products based on functionality, performance, and security requirements.

Business cutover design: Party B shall collect and evaluate the current computing, storage, and security performance in Party A’s business system; analyze the computing, storage, and security features of the business system; and design and plan the migration steps, processes, and cutover policies for Party A’s business system to ensure uninterrupted service provisioning.

3.2 Online Business System Migration Design

Party B shall collect and evaluate the current architecture and objectives of Party A’s business system; analyze the application architecture and technical stack of the business system; appropriately plan cloud products, such as elastic computing, storage, database, and middleware, required by Party A’s business system; design the on-cloud application architecture for Party A’s business system to meet the functionality, performance, security, and high availability (HA) requirements of Party A.

3.3 Online Business Storage Migration Design

Party B shall collect and evaluate the current situation and objectives of the storage of Party A’s business system; select appropriate cloud storage products and specifications; design the full and incremental migration solutions according to Party A’s business characteristics; plan the cloud storage product-based application transformation solutions; verify the key technologies for data storage migration; and provide complete and detailed storage migration solutions.

3.4 Online Business Database Migration Design

Party B shall collect and evaluate the current situation and objectives of the database of Party A’s business system; analyze the types, quantity, application architecture, performance indicators, and O&M control of existing database products; plan and select appropriate cloud database products and specifications; design the database specifications, storage policies, application architecture, and O&M control policies for Party A’s business system; and provide the application transformation suggestions required for development of Party A’s business system.

3.5 Hybrid Cloud Networking Design

Party B shall collect and evaluate the current networking and networking objectives of Party A’s business system; design the hybrid cloud networking solution based on policies such as the VPN and VPN gateway; evaluate the VPN bandwidth; plan the subnet CIDR blocks and routes; and design the subnet access policies.

3.6 On-Cloud Intranet Access Design

Party B shall collect and evaluate the current access status and objectives of Party A’s business system; design the on-cloud intranet access solution based on the open VPN; support authentication and access control based on protocols such as the LDAP; manage the cloud product access authority based on Party B’s catalog services; and improve the enterprise-class security in using the Party B’s on-cloud intranet.

Determine Party A, Party B, and third-party stakeholders of the kickoff meeting.

Evaluate and obtain the current situation of the business system.

Party B submits the “Cloud Migration Survey Report”, and both parties confirm the report.

Design the cloudification architecture.

Select appropriate cloud product portfolios.

Design the cloudification architecture by incorporating the best practice.

Design the cloudification and migration solutions for the system.

Party B submits the “Cloud Migration Consulting Report”, and both parties confirm the report.

Acceptance of the migration consulting service

Prepare the acceptance report.

Party B submits the “Project Acceptance Report”. Party A shall sign on the report within five working days.

5.       Project Milestones

The Project has five major milestones:

  • Project kickoff meeting: Alibaba Cloud submits the “Project Kickoff Meeting Report” and the customer is responsible for holding the project kickoff meeting. Both parties reach an agreement regarding the project’s main content, implementation methods, and objectives;
  • Project plan report: Alibaba Cloud submits the “Project Consulting Plan” and both parties reach an agreement regarding the Project’s implementation content, processes, steps, and plans;
  • System current situation report: Alibaba Cloud submits the “Cloud Migration Survey Report”. Both parties reach an agreement regarding the content of the survey report, and confirm that the scope, architecture, specifications, and management of the business system specified in the survey report are consistent with the current situation of the system;
  • Consulting report: Alibaba Cloud submits the “Cloud Migration Consulting Report”. Both parties reach an agreement regarding the content of the consulting report, and confirm that the production selection, architecture, and migration solutions specified in the consulting report are consistent with expectations;
  • Acceptance of the migration consulting service: After Alibaba Cloud submits the “Project Acceptance Report”, the customer shall confirm the content in the report within five working days and sign their acceptance comments.

[NOTE] The project start time shall be subject to the time for signing the “Application System Migration Consulting Service Project Contract”.

6.       Customer Responsibilities

  • The customer shall assign a project owner to help Alibaba Cloud smoothly provide the consulting service. The owner shall be responsible for coordination and management. (For example, if Alibaba Cloud needs to conduct a survey on the business system, this project owner shall coordinate related personnel in the survey.) The owner shall also be responsible for review and acceptance of the service provided by Alibaba Cloud;
  • In the project implementation process, the customer shall arrange related business personnel to participate in the surveys, meetings, and reviews of the project according to the plan, and provide the project team with the information about the current situation and expectations of the business system;
  • In the project implementation process, the customer shall arrange related technical personnel, such as the requirement, design, development, O&M, and management personnel, according to the plan, and provide the project team with the accurate information about the current technical situation and expectations;
  • In the project implementation process, the customer shall arrange related supervisors or decision makers to participate in major meetings and milestones according to the plan, learn the project progress in time, and promote timely and effective problem solving;
  • In the project implementation process, the customer shall coordinate other types of resources, and provide the project team with the accurate information about the current situation and expectations.

7.       Acceptance Criteria

Project acceptance can start after the following acceptance criteria are met:

  • After these project reports are submitted, Party A shall confirm the solution within five working days. If no objection is raised, both parties sign the “Project Acceptance Report”;
  • Signing of the “Project Acceptance Report” is deemed as completion of project acceptance.

8.       Mark of Completion

The data migration consulting service is complete after project acceptance is finished and both parties sign the “Project Acceptance Report”.
