Use DMS to import a logical backup into an ApsaraDB for RDS instance

Scenarios

This function is used to import a logical backup file from your computer to an ApsaraDB for RDS database by using Alibaba Cloud Data Management Service (DMS).

Prerequisites

The destination database and the account used to log on to the destination database are created on your ApsaraDB for RDS instance. For information about how to create a database and an account, see the following topics:

Precautions

  • The logical backup file must be in the CSV, SQL, or ZIP format.

  • The size of the logical backup file cannot exceed 100 MB.

  • The logical backup file cannot contain information about the source database.

Procedure

  1. Log on to the ApsaraDB for RDS console.

  2. In the top navigation bar, select the region where the target RDS instance resides.

  3. Find the target RDS instance and click its ID. The Basic Information page appears.

  4. In the upper-right corner, click Log On to DB. For more information, see Use DMS to log on to an RDS instance.

  5. Log on to the target RDS instance. In the top navigation bar, choose Data Operation > Import.

  6. On the Import page, click New Task.

  7. Enter the information of the import task. 导入

    Parameter description
    File Type: Select the type of the logical backup file you want to import. You can select SQL or CSV.
    File Encoding: Select the encoding of the logical backup file you want to import. You can select Automatically identify the character set, utf8, or gbk.
    Database: Select the destination database.
    Attachment: Select the logical backup file you want to import. You can click Browse to add the logical backup file.
    Descriptions: Enter the description that helps manage the logical backup file.
  8. Click Start.

  9. When the task progress reaches 100%, the logical backup file is imported.

  10. Click Close.

  11. Click Refresh. The logical backup file you imported is displayed in the destination database.
