ENS:What is ENS?

Last Updated:Mar 07, 2024

Edge Node Service (ENS) provides an all-in-one edge service based on the edge nodes and networks of Internet service providers (ISPs). ENS provides distributed and elastic computing resources that are deployed close to end users. ENS helps reduce computing costs, response latency, and loads in the central data center. You can deploy your workloads on the edge nodes of an ISP. This helps reduce latency and computing costs.

What is edge computing?

Before you use ENS, you need to know what is edge computing.

Edge computing is a distributed computing architecture that migrates the computing of applications, data, and services from the central node to the edge nodes in the network. In edge computing, services that are originally processed by the central node are split into smaller parts and processed on the edge nodes. Edge nodes are closer to clients. This accelerates the processing and transmission of data and reduces latency.

Why ENS?

ENS provides the following benefits:

  • Wide coverage: Node resources that are close to clients cover most regions in the world. This ensures low latency.

  • Flexible billing: Edge computing resources support the pay-as-you-go method and dynamic scaling, without initial investment.

  • Integration and openness: Alibaba Cloud Container Service for Kubernetes and DevOps APIs are integrated. An open runtime environment and computing power specifications allow batch, visualized, and automated management.

  • Security and reliability: Multi-tenant computing power, secure network isolation, Apsara Distributed Operating System, and excellent automated O&M capabilities ensure data security and reliability around the world.

For more information about the benefits, see Benefits.

Pricing

ENS supports the pay-as-you-go billing method. For more information, see Overview.

Scenarios

ENS can be used in a variety of sectors. ENS is suitable for scenarios that require high performance and low costs. For more information, see Scenarios.
