You can restore backup files to a server or virtual machine. This applies to backups that are created by using a file backup client or another client that uses the same backup vault.

Note When you restore files among a large number of backups, you can search for backups to find the files to be restored. For more information, see Search backups.

Restore files from the current client

To restore files from the current client, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to a Hybrid Backup Recovery (HBR) file backup client.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Restore. The Restore Backup / Backups page appears.
  3. On the Backups tab, find the target backup and click Restore in the Actions column.
  4. In the Restore Backup dialog box that appears, set the parameters as described in the following table, select the files to be restored, and then click Submit to restore these files.
    Parameter Description
    Target Folder The folder to which the selected files are restored.
    File Options
    • Include Files: Only the selected files and folders are restored to the target folder.
    • Exclude Files: Except for the selected files and folders, all other files and folders are restored to the target folder.

Restore files from another client

To restore files from another client, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to an HBR file backup client.
  2. In the left-side navigation pane, click Restore. The Restore Backup / Backups page appears.
  3. On the Backups tab, click Restore From Other Client in the upper-right corner.
  4. In the Restore Backup dialog box that appears, select the client that is used to back up the files to be restored and click Next.
  5. Select a backup to be restored and click Next.
  6. In the Restore File step, set the parameters as described in the following table, select the files to be restored, and then click Submit to restore these files.
    Parameter Description
    Target Folder The folder to which the selected files are restored.
    File Options
    • Include Files: Only the selected files and folders are restored to the target folder.
    • Exclude Files: Except for the selected files and folders, all other files and folders are restored to the target folder.
